We are currently seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to join our team in Lexington, North Carolina. This is a strategic leadership role responsible for managing all procurement activities, develop strategic sourcing initiatives and supplier relationships to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of materials and services that support our manufacturing operations.
The ideal candidate is a proactive and collaborative leader with deep expertise in supply chain and purchasing strategies, a strong technical background, and the ability to drive continuous improvement across the procurement function.

Leads, directs and manages a team responsible for all aspects of ordering and purchasing goods and services, and coordinating and scheduling transportation logistics, in order to have materials available as required by manufacturing, customers, and/or suppliers. This position will be responsible for developing, implementing and managing purchasing processes and strategies, to support the local site with efforts on minimizing total cost of ownership without sacrificing quality or performance.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Manages all daily operations of the procurement function, and the personnel assigned to these roles, for assigned CPM location(s).
- Develops performance guidelines/standards for the purchasing group; defines and establishes departmental and individual staff goals in support of management objectives to be aligned with CPM's vision and mission. Evaluates the staff performance in relationship to the established goals.
- Assists and/or conducts training for support personnel in the purchasing function.
- Responsible for the development and function of the purchasing system. This includes, but is not limited to, long term/national agreements in conjunction with supply chain management, certified supplier program, category and/or commodity strategies, favorable terms and conditions on all purchases, and on-time delivery initiatives.
- Understand, monitor and share global market conditions/trends, developing technologies, supply chain capacity/capability, product knowledge, customer requirements and supply/demand to maintain a roadmap that ensures supply chain viability.
- Continually update pricing tools in order to ensure that the applications and proposals teams can extract accurate cost information when building quotations.
- Co-ordinate with the Sales department to ensure that the supply base has the capabilities and capacity to meet forecast growth and product development.
- Guide the selection, development, and management of strategic suppliers to meet cost and performance goals.
- Develop and implement spend management and/or commodity strategies, including supplier assessments and rationalization, negotiation for best total cost of ownership, inventory reduction programs, cycle time improvements, security of supply, supplier diversity, low cost countries, continuous improvement, and procurement/engineering collaboration.
- Lead negotiations and completion of contracts/supplier agreements on price, payment terms, warranty, returns and customer support with global strategic and preferred suppliers to maximize benefits across corporation and its affiliates.
- Responsible for "make or buy" decisions, where appropriate.
- Create and maintain mutually beneficial long-term partnerships with strategic suppliers to foster feedback and continuous improvement.
- Implement a rigorous and disciplined process for managing the supply base including leading periodic business reviews, monitoring and managing supplier performance (quality, cost, delivery, & customer support), managing supplier relationships, performing root cause analysis and resolution, developing and monitoring supplier improvement plans.
- Develop, implement and maintain standardized processes, procedures, policies, work instructions and safety guidelines.
- Optimize the use of information systems and technology for tracking, analysis, reporting, administration and communication between business units.
- Protect CPM's Intellectual Property by having all suppliers review, understand, and sign non-disclosure agreements prior to sharing any information.
- Establish a strong network and foster collaboration with customers, suppliers, key stakeholders, and team members.
- Ensures compliance with all laws and regulations with regard to procurement and the transport of goods.
- Assists and/or resolves problems with invoices, receipt reconciliation, contract awards and/or contract performance, as the need arises.
- Knowledge of commercial & legal contract terms and conditions.
- Effectively partners with leaders of all functions and business units to ensure that strategies and tactics are consistent with broader business strategies and objectives.
- Engage in continuous improvement for processes included in and adjacent to job role. Recognize and resolve customer satisfaction issues (both internal and external).

- 25% travel, mostly to North American destinations
- Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) include CPM On Time Delivery performance, Supplier On Time Delivery performance, Supplier Quality performance, Cost savings, Actual cost performance against budgeted cost, Inventory turns, and other KPI's that align with CPM's Vision and Mission
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Advanced knowledge of procurement principles, theories and process.
- Must have a good understanding of what is required to support the purchasing function in an Engineered to Order environment.
- Must be well organized and able to coordinate multiple tasks.
- Must be a team player and a team leader.
- Must possess a high energy personality and excellent oral and written communication skills.
- A strong understanding of ERP systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
Desirable
- Professional certification(s) and/or related professional training.
- Experience in food processing industry or related markets
- Knowledge and experience leading Six Sigma and/or Lean projects.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 8-10 years' experience in Supply Chain and/or Purchasing in a manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Purchasing, Business or related field, or relevant experience in a similar role.
