Ascension St. Vincent Indianapolis is seeking Hospitalist/Associate Program Director for their 86th Street, Main Campus Location. The right candidate for this role will hold traditional Hospitalist duties as well as dedicating time to resident recruitment and selection; evaluation and promotion of residents, participation in disciplinary action, the supervision of residents, and clinical and non-clinical resident education- in accordance with all governing bodies and accrediting authorities to ensure compliance.

What You Will Do

Responsibilities:
  • Evaluates and treats patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills. Coordinates discharge planning with case management.
  • Recommends, participates in, and works to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients.
  • Accepts patient referrals from other physicians. Acts as admitting, attending and/or consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses, depending on needs of patients, medical staff and hospital.
  • Participates in academic programs (e.g. medical education and research) as requested.
  • Provides appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements; appeal all denials in a timely manner.
  • Participates in inpatient and outpatient consultation for specialty, which may include on call schedules.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Assist the program director in a fashion consistent with the needs of the community, the mission of the Ascension St Vincent, and the mission of the program
  • Administer and maintain a learning environment conducive to educating the residents in each of the ACGME Competency domains
  • Submit accurate and complete information required and requested by the program director the DIO, GMEC and ACGME
  • With the program director, ensure the program's compliance with the Ascension St Vincent's policies and procedures for due process when action is taken to suspend or dismiss, not to promote, or not to renew the appointment of a resident
  • Work with program director to ensure the program's compliance with the Ascension St Vincent's policies and procedures on employment and non-discrimination


What You Will Need

Licensure/Certification/Registration:
  • Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Indiana Medical Licensing Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Optometry (OD) or Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) required.

Responsibilities:
  • Participates in the annual ACGME survey
  • Participates in the clinical competence and program evaluation committees as requested by the PD
  • Assists the program director in the development, implementation and evaluation of the program's curriculum
  • Supports and participates in the program's annual review, self study and ACGME site visits
  • Serves as a mentor and advisor to residents
  • Participates in clinical teaching activities.
  • Participates in non-clinical teaching activities such as lecture, conferences, workshops and simulations
  • Participates in the evaluation of residents and other program faculty
  • Participates in and supports faculty development
  • Assists in addressing resident performance concerns and developing individualized learning strategies
  • Actively participate in resident recruitment
  • Oversees and assists resident and faculty scholarly activity
  • Fosters interprofessional education and learning
  • Demonstrates positive interpersonal and networking skills that supports collaboration
  • Develops and maintains positive working relationship within and outside of GME
  • Aligns with other programs both within and outside the system
  • Encourages diversity
