Senior Manager Data Governance, Data Strategy and Governance - Canadian Commercial Banking
Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of the Commercial Banking Business Area in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Accountabilities:
Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
Leads the roadmap creation, delivery and reporting for Commercial Banking Data Governance to ensure the assigned initiatives and deliverables are accomplished from end-to-end perspective (incl. Data Intake, Data Management, Platform onboarding)
Manages the maintenance and review of the data governance framework at Commercial Banking by tracking adherence and coverage of data management controls.
Leads training and education of Commercial Banking stakeholders on their roles and responsibilities, data management processes and tools (Collibra) and produce data management artifacts
Responsible for defining the data management Roadmaps, activities, artifacts, and milestones necessary for project initiative teams. This includes, but is not limited to, documenting initiatives, use cases, success criteria, business purpose, and data tiering.
Leads data quality monitoring and issue management processes and metrics at Commercial Banking
Hosts and conducts kick-off and progress meetings and working groups with stakeholders on initiatives.
Communicates with stakeholders and Director/VP level managers to effectively influence strategic priorities
Supports business lines and project teams on the execution of data management policy, standards, processes, and implementation as appropriate
Understands how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

The role requires a high degree of collaboration across wide ranging groups: Global Banking & Markets (GBM); GTB; Finance, Wealth Management, Retail Small Business, and various Commercial Banking areas.
Education / Experience / Other Information:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Finance, Economics or Statistics
MBA (Finance or Marketing) - preferred
Experience:
Detailed experience in Project Management, Communication, Relationship Management
Detailed experience in Data management tools such as Collibra
2+ years' experience in programming, application development and/or data warehousing
Experience in programming tools such as Unix, Mainframe, SQL, SAS, Python, R an asset
Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
Strong prioritizing, analytical, presentation, project management and planning skills
Effective strategic thinking, organizational know-how and influencing skills are critical for success
High degree of knowledge of commercial products and profit drivers
Strong technical skills in Math, Statistics, Computer Science or related fields
Excellent design and delivery capabilities
Working Conditions:
Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence; limited travel may be expected
