Job Description Summary:
The general MRI technologist is a journey-level position or up to 2-year's experience working in either a clinic or acute care hospital facility. The general MRI technologist working in conjunction with a more experienced technologist is also under the supervision of the Lead MRI Technologist. Certification in MRI through the ARRT is warranted by an individual with at least two year of experience, but not expected of the journey-level position.
Job Requirements, Prerequisites and Essential Functions:
EDUCATION
Either Formal training with an accredited MRI program or at least 3 years experience training in an ACR accredited facility.
Formal Training in an accredited Radiological program with an Associates degree in Radiology.
High school diploma or an equivalent G.E.D. program therein preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of two years full time experience as a paid Radiological Technologist in an acute care hospital facility
LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATIONS
Radiologic Technologist Required at hire
Amer Reg of Magnetic Res Imaging Tech OR American Register of Rad Techs Required at hire
Integrative Agitation Management (IAM) Required within 30 days of hire
PREREQUISITE SKILLS
1. Technical ability to perform all MRI examinations as outlined in the MGH Diagnostic Imaging Services department policy and procedure manual
2. Ability to interact with general public, clients, staff and referring physicians with diplomacy, tact and goodwill
3. Able to communicate effectively with patients who are under stress
4. Ability to participate in department team quality improvement activities
