The Vice President of Purchasing is responsible for leading and optimizing Z Modular's procurement operations, ensuring seamless material availability and supplier relationships across Factory Operations, Construction Operations, and Residential Community Operations. This executive role requires strategic vision and hands-on execution to drive cost-effective procurement, enhance supply chain efficiency, and mitigate risks while maintaining quality and compliance standards. The VP of Purchasing will oversee forecasting, inventory management, supplier negotiations, and procurement risk assessments to align purchasing strategies with business objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a robust procurement strategy that balances tactical purchasing with long-term supplier relationships, ensuring operational excellence across all business units.
  • Team Development: Build and lead a high-performing purchasing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Supplier & Contract Management: Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to secure optimal agreements, ensuring cost efficiency and quality standards.
  • Material & Inventory Optimization: Oversee forecasting and inventory management, implementing standardized systems for tracking materials across factory, construction, and community operations.
  • Financial Oversight: Collaborate with finance teams to assess the impact of commodity inflation on budgets, optimizing procurement strategies to minimize financial risk.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance: Ensure all procured materials and services meet regulatory and company standards, resolving supplier-related issues proactively.
  • Risk Mitigation & Market Analysis: Monitor industry trends, assess procurement risks, and develop strategies to safeguard the supply chain against disruptions.
  • Process Optimization: Streamline procurement workflows, leveraging ERP systems and best practices to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with internal teams, including operations and finance, to align purchasing strategies with business needs and innovation goals.
  • Performance Evaluation: Assess vendor performance based on price, quality, availability, and reliability, continuously refining supplier partnerships.
  • Operational Support: Ensure seamless procurement support for Factory, Construction, and Residential Community Operations, maintaining high service levels and timely deliveries.
  • Workplace Safety & Compliance: Champion safety initiatives and regulatory compliance across all procurement functions.
  • Leadership & Talent Development: Hire, mentor, and evaluate team members, fostering professional growth and ensuring a high-performance culture.
  • Executive Reporting: Provide regular updates to senior leadership on supplier performance, procurement trends, and strategic recommendations.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; Master's degree or professional certifications (e.g., CPIM, CPSM, CPP, PMP) preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in procurement for manufacturing, construction, and residential community management.
  • Strong background in forecasting, inventory management, and market analysis specific to these sectors.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage supplier relationships while optimizing cost efficiency.
  • Experience in contract negotiations and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Eligible to work in the United States.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
  • Advanced understanding of procurement best practices, supplier management, and contract negotiations.
  • Strong analytical skills with expertise in financial modeling for commodity price impacts.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive strategic procurement initiatives.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills for engaging with vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, purchasing software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strategic problem-solving abilities with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Adaptability to changing market conditions and supply chain disruptions.


WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Primarily office-based with a controlled climate, requiring standard office equipment and professional interaction with colleagues.
  • Occasional visits to construction sites and factory environments, requiring adherence to safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Hybrid work flexibility, with required travel to company offices, factories, construction sites, and residential communities as necessary.
