Curana Health is a provider of value-based primary care services for the senior living industry, including skilled nursing facilities, assisted & independent living communities, Memory Care units, and affordable senior housing sites. Our 1,000+ clinicians serve more than 1,500 senior living community partners across 34 states, and Curana participates in various innovative CMS programs (including owned-and-operated Accountable Care Organizations and Medicare Advantage plans). Position Summary
Curana Health is seeking a dynamic and experienced physician leader to serve as our Regional Medical Director (RMD) for the West region. The RMD is responsible for the clinical leadership, quality outcomes, and performance of physicians and advanced practice providers across multiple facilities. RMDs reports directly to the Medical Group CMO. This role supports our mission to transform healthcare in post-acute and senior living settings by driving clinical excellence, fostering strong provider engagement, and ensuring alignment with Curana's goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership across your region, ensuring the highest standards of care and service.
- Oversee and manage relationships with facility administrators, regional vice presidents (RVPs), and other key stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the Vice President of Operations and Director of Clinical Operations to identify and resolve operational challenges and align on market needs.
- Manage provider performance through regular review of quality metrics, ACO dashboards, and Curana-specific KPIs (e.g., patient census, HCC capture, quality scores, LOB savings).
- Conduct monthly or as-needed regional "Townhalls" to review clinical performance, share key updates, and reinforce team alignment.
- Serve as a mentor and resource for providers-conduct 1:1s, give real-time feedback, and support performance improvement.
- Oversee hiring, interviewing, onboarding, and training of new physicians; support providers until fully onboarded and independent.
- Provide consultative care for medically complex patients, ensuring stabilization and appropriate care transitions.
- Support centrally led initiatives and lead region-specific pilots or program implementations, where applicable.
- Partner with operations to review, validate, and communicate bonus program metrics and performance results.
- Participate in leadership meetings, both required and optional.
- Lead or support biannual performance reviews for direct reports.
- Travel occasionally (up to 1-3 days per trip) Every 6 weeks at the most
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of geriatrics and post-acute care in NF (SNF/LTC), AL/IL preferred.
- Understanding of relevant medical policies, regulations, and quality control standards.
- Data-literate with ability to interpret and apply clinical and operational metrics.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Capable of remaining calm, objective, and effective in high-pressure or emergency situations.
- Ability to coach, mentor, and lead a diverse team of clinicians.
Education and Experience
- M.D. or D.O. from an accredited medical school.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Geriatrics.
- Population health background required.
- Experience with EHR documentation and provider billing.
- Prior experience in post-acute care settings is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead clinical teams and improve outcomes.
- A passion for quality care and a collaborative, team-first mindset.
Licensure/Certifications
- Current and unrestricted license to practice medicine
- Active or in-progress DPS and DEA certification.
