JOB SUMMARY:

Manages all aspects of transition projects, from beginning to end, with direct responsibility for project execution while leading a team of stakeholders, to accomplish specific objectives in each time frame and with available resources. Success for this role will require coordination and collaboration across multiple organizations, including Operations, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Tooling, PC&L, Facilities, Supply Chain, IT and Finance.

Responsible for the administration, implementation, and coordination of In-house and In-draw transition projects. Forecasts staffing, budgets, facility needs, new technology investment and tooling to support company objectives. Guides a team composed of multiple disciplines to ensure projects meets performance requirements as well as customer expectations. Manages the overall scope, schedule, and budget performance of the project.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage an integrated, cross-functional team from various disciplines, establish the transition plan with internal customer(s) buy in, establish project expectations and milestones, and execution of the activities to successfully transfer the statement of work within budget and on schedule
Oversee the analysis, planning, shipment, fabrication, and inspection phases throughout project execution
Utilize engineering knowledge for project management; estimate timelines and schedules; anticipate risks and costs related to the technical aspects of the project. Conduct producibility and variation data analysis to ensure that manufacturing process capability of new source matches requirements. Ensure project scope supports senior leadership business unit objectives, such as Product Cost Savings, Supplier Optimization, Regional Alignment, and Center of Excellence (COE) Development
Create and coordinate transition plan with Master Scheduling and PC&L to ensure no interruption in MRP processes for order release, scheduling, and purchased component sourcing activities
Coordinate project and lead meetings for seamless communication with cross-functional team of project stakeholders. Provide progress updates to the stakeholders regularly and manage timely completion of tasks assigned
Responsible for budget development with strong focus on delivering projects at or under budget
Provide technical guidance to initiate and drive Root Cause / Corrective Action (RCCA) on production issues related to engineering design, material, tooling, specifications and processes
Support project objectives with maintenance of manufacturing Collectors and SuperBOM. Coordinate revisions required for Tasks/Work Instructions (Routings) and writing of Tool Work Orders to support new source of supply in BSAP and CSAP.
Utilize project risk management/data analytic tools throughout all phases of the statement of work
Ensure proper Import/Export documentation and Trade Compliance procedures are followed, as required, for the movement of tooling, components, materials, and/or fabricated products, across international borders
Analyze and assist facility and tooling teams in recommendations regarding production facility arrangements for improvements to production capacity, manufacturing flow, and strategic work transitions are integrated to support the statement of work, including Capital planning and justification
Work with cross-functional personnel to analyze and solve production flow issues stemming from sequence of work, balance of tasks, tooling/equipment constraints, and manpower allocation/training
Identify, justify, and implement new technology, including automation and manufacturing techniques to improve safety/ergonomics, reduce manufacturing cost (labor, material, inventory, scrap), and improve product/process quality within the new source of supply
Assist with continuous improvement opportunities; utilizes Lean/Continuous Improvement (CI) methodologies to lead, implement, and track improvements and to conduct check and adjust activities to verify sustainment of customer satisfaction of the new source FAI and Post-FAI product builds

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree required in:
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Manufacturing Engineering
    • Industrial Engineering
    • Systems Engineering
    • Manufacturing Engineering Technology
    • Supply Chain
    • Other related field
  • Leadership experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering, Operations, or related field preferred.
  • SAP experience preferred


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong working knowledge of Textron Aviation aircraft development processes
  • Possess prior project management and technical leadership experience including comprehension of engineering requirements and manufacturing plans
  • Ability to support analytical and practical problem solving/process improvement
  • Bias for action and ability to shift processes and priorities quickly
  • High intellectual horsepower to bring together concepts, data, and distribution practices quickly
  • Effective communicator with demonstrated abilities to pull teams together
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to identify relevant information and explain technical details to a broad audience
  • Effective presenter with demonstrated experience pulling together concepts and solutions in a succinct and clear manner
  • Ability to influence senior leaders using data and lead transformational change
  • Demonstrated organizational agility as well as global mindset to work across all locations, functions, and levels within the organization
  • Demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional teams
  • Computer Proficiency Skills in Microsoft Project and MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Continuous Improvement, Lean, Project management certificates and/or training preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills
