Step into a leadership role where engineering meets mission. Collins Aerospace is seeking a Lead Program Chief Engineer to drive innovation and execution within our Environmental and Airframe Control Systems (EACS) group, supporting some of the most advanced military and rotorcraft platforms in the world, including programs with Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Boeing Defense.

In this high-impact, working manager role, you won't just lead, you'll empower a team of engineers, shape technical strategy, and work shoulder-to-shoulder with program leadership to deliver cutting-edge solutions that matter. From overseeing program execution to guiding your team through complex challenges, you'll play a critical role in the success of defense initiatives that protect and connect the world.

You'll partner with the Value Stream Lead (VSL) and cross-functional Program Management Team to balance technical excellence, team leadership, and direct engagement in program activities, ensuring we meet our commitments with precision, agility, and innovation.

What You Will Do
  • Lead engineering efforts for Lockheed, Northrop, and Boeing Defense programs within the Military and Rotorcraft Value Stream
  • Serve as a working manager with both technical and personnel responsibilities
  • Manage a team of engineers, including leaders with their own reports
  • Collaborate with the Value Stream Lead and Program Management Team on program execution and team organization
  • Oversee technical direction, program performance, and engineering deliverables
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for customers and internal leadership
  • Support development programs and product sustainment efforts
  • Ensure alignment across engineering, schedule, cost, and risk management
  • Provide internal and external reporting on program status and performance
  • Contribute to budget planning and execution
  • Promote collaboration, accountability, and results-driven execution across the team


Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance


Qualifications We Prefer
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Experience driving execution of large-scale, complex programs
  • Strong proficiency with EVMS, MS Project, and related project engineering tools
  • Familiarity with aircraft systems, including Environmental Control Systems, Weapons Management Systems, and Flight Control Systems

The salary range for this role is 147,000 USD - 295,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
