The Director of Nursing Care Services will support the Chief Nursing Officer in ensuring clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, and the development of nursing staff, all while fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Specific Job Duties/Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategic Planning:
- Work closely with the CNO to develop and implement strategic nursing initiatives
- Provide leadership in nursing operations, ensuring that care delivery aligns with the unique needs of our local patient population.
- Develop policies, procedures, and best practices that enhance nursing performance and patient satisfaction.
Clinical & Operational Management:
- Supervise day-to-day nursing operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and patient-centered care.
- Collaborate with department heads to streamline workflows and optimize resource utilization.
- Support initiatives to improve care coordination, particularly for underserved populations and rural healthcare needs.
- Participate in emergency preparedness planning, ensuring the hospital is equipped to handle public health crises.
Quality & Patient Safety:
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as accreditation requirements (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS).
- Drive quality improvement programs to enhance patient safety and reduce hospital-acquired conditions.
- Foster a culture of safety and advocate for evidence-based practices that improve clinical outcomes.
Staff Development & Community Engagement:
- Lead efforts to recruit, retain, and develop nursing staff, prioritizing professional growth and leadership training.
- Promote nurse residency and mentorship programs to support new graduates and career development.
- Engage with the localcommunity and health organizations to enhance partnerships and outreach programs.
- Advocate for nursing involvement in community health initiatives, population health programs, and wellness education.
Financial & Resource Management:
- Assist in budget planning and cost management to ensure financial sustainability while maintaining high-quality care.
- Optimize staffing models to balance patient needs with cost-effective operations.
- Evaluate and recommend investment in new technologies to enhance nursing efficiency.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications/Skills:
- Education: BSN required; Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) or Healthcare Administration (MHA) preferred
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive nursing leadership experience in hospital setting.
- Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
- Experience in rural or community-based healthcare delivery.
- Ability to engage with local stakeholders and community organizations.
- Knowledge of population health management and social determinants of health.
Training Requirements:
- Completion of all required training as assigned
Physical Requirements:
- Normal to light office work which includes the ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
- Regularly required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate computer keyboard, phone, and various office equipment.
Cognitive Requirements:
- Reading, writing, calculating
- Above average social interaction skills
- Reasoning/Analysis
- Works with minimal to no supervision
Language Requirements:
- Must possess the ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.
- Must be able to continually and effectively employ professional verbal and written communications skills.
Certificates, Licenses & Registrations:
- All applicants will comply with 45 CFR 1301, Subpart D, Section 1301.31, C and D, which require all prospective employees to sign a declaration prior to employment regarding all arrests and convictions of child abuse or violent felonies and to comply with PL 101-630 and PL 101-637 regarding criminal records check.
