Job Description
The Department of Pediatrics, Heersink School of Medicine at The University of Alabama at Birmingham announces an opportunity for a full-time, regular, twelve-month faculty position with corresponding administrative responsibilities within the Division of Allergy & Immunology. Faculty rank and tenure is open and commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position incorporates clinical, interdisciplinary teaching, community activities, and may include some research. Applicants must have MD or DO and be BC in Pediatrics and BC/BE in Allergy/Immunology. The ideal candidate will have experience in academic medicine. The successful candidate will be involved in graduate medical education activities through clinical education.
The Division of Pediatric Allergy & Immunology serves to provide expertise in clinical care, education, research, and service for both the University and the Children's of Alabama (COA) Health System. The Division specializes in the treatment of patients with IgE mediated diseases including asthma, allergic rhinitis, atopic dermatitis, food allergy, urticaria, angioedema, and stinging insect and drug allergy. Division clinical immunologists diagnose and treat children with primary immune deficiencies including Severe Combined Immune Deficiency (SCID), primary antibody deficiencies, phagocyte deficiencies and complement deficiencies. Faculty research interests include studies related to drug allergy and food allergy, primary immune deficiencies, and opportunistic infections, particularly with mycoplasmas and related bacteria.
