PGS Worldwide is seeking a Sr. Principal Network Engineer to join our team in San Diego, CA. In this role, you will play a key part in an Aerospace Leader's enterprise-wide digital transformation, supporting national defense missions through technologies such as Model-Based Engineering, DevSecOps, and Agile practices.

This is an initial 12-month contract-to-hire opportunity, and I will respond immediately to all qualified candidates.

Job Description:
  • Design, configure, and troubleshoot network systems in a lab environment
  • Integrate emerging technologies into system architectures
  • Implement and document engineering changes
  • Analyze technical requirements and incorporate them into end-to-end designs
  • Complete network configurations and coordinate with peers, SMEs, and government engineers
  • Support occasional travel needs for system integration or testing

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or related field with 8+ years of relevant experience; or 6 years with a Master's degree; or 4 years with a PhD. An additional 4 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Hands-on experience with network design, architecture, and equipment selection
  • Knowledge of IPv4/IPv6, subnetting, and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
  • Experience configuring/troubleshooting network devices (ideally Cisco IOS/IOS-XE)
  • Familiarity with GRE, IPSEC, QoS, VLANs, and multicast technologies
  • Experience with network management protocols (SNMP, SSH, Syslog, RADIUS/TACACS)
  • U.S. Citizenship required


Desired:
  • DoD 8570 Certification (e.g., Security+, CASP, CISSP)
  • Cisco Certifications (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with tools such as Splunk, Cisco FMC, or Cisco ISE
  • Understanding of Risk Management Framework, STIGs, and cybersecurity best practices
  • Experience with Windows, Linux, and VMware environments
  • Familiarity with HAIPE/TACLANE and military COMSEC/CRYPTO equipment
  • Knowledge of tactical/military networks (e.g., CDL, ANW2) and MILSATCOM
  • Experience with Cisco Unified Communications, VoIP, and VTC systems
  • Exposure to Cisco Modeling Labs (CML) or VIRL
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially PowerPoint and Visio
  • Active Secret Clearance is strongly preferred
