GENERAL SUMMARY

Develop, manage and provide leadership of the Quality Assurance (QA) Program necessary to ensure that Energy Northwest's new nuclear plants are designed, procured, constructed, commissioned and operated in a manner that is safe and reliable by: (a) implementing the quality requirements and programs required by NQA-1 as committed to in the Quality Assurance Program Description (QAPD), (b) establishing and maintaining an approved supplier list for new nuclear, and (c) verifying the quality system is effective through performance of audits, surveillances, and management reviews.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Manages the activities of the Quality Department through the following:

1. Implements the New Nuclear QA program and refers appropriate matters to management in a timely manner.

2. Maintains New Nuclear QAPD and QA procedures.

3. Performs audits and surveillances of supplier and subcontractor activities. Establishes and maintains an approved supplier list.

4. Schedules and participates in the management review of the quality program to ensure its suitability and effectiveness.

5. Verifies the quality system is effectively implemented and maintained through the performance of audits, surveillance, and reviews of engineering, design, procurement, and fabrication documents.

6. Prepares budgets for the department and operates the department within budget limitations

7. Develops and implements strategies for maximizing efficiency and decreasing costs to meet business plan objectives and achieve continuous improvement

8. Makes decisions about personnel regarding employment, performance expectations/reviews, promotions, salary changes, transfers, and terminations

9. Resolves personnel problems

10. Prepares performance objectives for subordinates and advises subordinates in the more complex phases of their work

11. Coordinates the activities of the Quality Department with other areas of the company

12. Develops supervisors and staff through coaching, training, employee rotation, and diverse assignments.

Reviews significant plant safety issues through membership and participation in new nuclear advisory boards.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or related science from an accredited college or university.

Required experience includes (years of experience may be concurrent):
  • 4 years of work experience in responsible positions related to quality assurance of which 2 years shall be nuclear power plant experience.
  • 2 years supervisory/management experience
  • 1 year of experience performing quality verification activities.


The following work experience is considered "related to quality assurance": engineering, procurement, construction, or power generation (e.g., operations and maintenance). Direct experience performing quality assurance activities is acceptable.

Equivalency to a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related science degree will be determined and approved by the general manager responsible for quality based upon an evaluation of the following factors:
  • High school diploma or GED is required plus one or more of the following:
  • Academic and related technical training.
  • Qualified as an NRC senior operator.
  • Eight (8) years of additional experience in an area related to Quality Assurance.
  • Four (4) years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly (verbally and in writing).
  • Certification of academic ability and knowledge by corporate management.
  • Successful completion of the Engineer-In-Training examination.
  • Professional Engineer License.
  • Associate's degree in engineering or a related science.
  • Specific experience in the creation and/or establishment of a QA program governed by NQA-1.

Pay Range
$157,548.00 - $236,322.00 Annual
Midpoint:
$196,935.00

Typically, selected candidates are hired between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience and qualifications, market rate, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.

Offers will be negotiated based on each candidate's qualifications.

Incentive Compensation

This role may be eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan. Incentives are earned based on employee performance against defined metrics and company goals.
