POSITION TITLE: Director of Nursing

REPORTS TO (TITLE): Chief Medical Officer

SALARY RANGE: $139,749 - $191,444 DOE

RESPONSIBLE FOR: Nursing role at SRCH, CPSP Program, Medication management and administration including immunization infrastructure and infection control practices across the organization.

Job Summary: The Director of Nursing works across agency service delivery sites cooperating with medical and operations staff to balance organizational needs and resources to establish an organizational standard of practice for all Nursing and CPSP services. Oversight and development of nursing professional department and infection control practices. S/he provides leadership and direction in all nursing and consults on all clinical supportive services matters. The Director of Nursing will establish the standards of practice, monitor performance across sites and organize educational training that support clinical quality goals.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Participate in policy decisions that affect patient care services, and ensure that policies and procedures are implemented, maintained and up-dated.
  • Plans, develops, and implements nursing quality, productivity, determines measures and metrics to meet organizational goals.
  • Oversee the development and timely revision of nursing and other clinical procedures, protocols and standing orders to enhance quality of care.
  • Oversight of SRCHC's infection control plan and its implementation.
  • Oversight of medication management and administration in the clinics, coordinates and chairs the pharmacy and therapeutics committee. Coordinates services with contracted and external pharmacies.
  • Coordinates medication and product recalls.
  • Oversight of immunization management, administration, practices, record keeping and procedures.
  • Participates in Joint Commission and PCHH accreditation process and maintenance.
  • Work with health centers leadership the design and development of nursing roles.
  • Directly supervises nursing supervisors and managers and provides professional development to these roles.
  • Participate in support of staff training and development.
  • Oversight of CPSP programs, staff, reporting, and progress on operational and quality goals.
  • Ensure that a comprehensive orientation program is conducted for all new nursing and to other staff in understanding the role of the nurse in team-based care.
  • Plan with educational institutions for internships which include student learning experience and clinical practice.
  • Maintain current knowledge of trends in nursing care delivery and incorporate this knowledge into daily operation and informing the leadership team and encourage research-based practice.
  • Facilitate evaluation clinical competency of nurses and supports development of other clinical support staff competencies and training according to the established Performance Evaluation and Training standards.
  • Participate in agency-wide risk management processes.
  • Participates in organizational quality improvement processes including quality committees as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Education
  • Masters in Nursing preferred
  • Current California Nursing RN or NP License
  • Current CPR certification

Experience
  • Minimum of ten years' experience in clinical nursing
  • Minimum of five years' experience in an administrative or leadership role

Knowledge & Skills
  • Good knowledge of the clinical process and critical thinking abilities
  • Knowledge of current nursing practices
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required
  • Excellent leadership, supervision, and mentoring skills
  • Ability to work with people with a variety of backgrounds and educational levels
  • Ability to work in a highly dynamic, mission-driven environment
