Role Overview:
The Scrum Master is a coach and facilitator for agile development teams and a source of agile culture for stakeholders. This role is crucial for maintaining Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Information Technology Department (BMV ITD) commitment to delivering exceptional results and business value.

Salary Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $79,118.00.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
Ensure team daily meetings (stand-ups), sprint planning, sprint reviews and retrospectives occur in regular cadence
Leverage agile principles to inform the development processes, as needed
Promote effective communication and collaboration, leading to team alignment
Facilitate improvement in the processes for how information is exchanged
Contribute feedback one on one, and at the team and organizational level, offering guidance, training and coaching on scrum practices and agile mindset
Hold the teams accountable to the development policies, procedures, processes, and metrics that reflect best development practices and business objectives
Lead in the removal of impediments by coaching to proactively identify and manage project risks, and dependencies, causing awareness within the appropriate stakeholders
Cultivate a culture of trust, respect and open communication within the teams, promoting collaboration and innovation that is essential for high performance and problem solving
Provide support, and collaboration to Product Owners in management of the product backlog to ensure that teams are working on the most valuable work items
Promote continuous improvements by encouraging the teams to reflect on their processes and performance, identifying areas for improvement for better ways of working and delivering value to our customers
Develop processes and workflows such that the scrum team's performance is optimized, costs are constrained, and focus is placed on the drive for quality of deliverables
Utilize key performance indicators (KPI's), and other metrics, for tracking progress and identifying areas for improvement
Provide feedback and guidance to team members and stakeholders on work item progress, quality and team productivity, as needed
Work in conjunction with Managers of team members, such as Product Owners, Developers, and Quality Analyst groups, to achieve project reporting and project goals.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.
What You'll Need for Success:
You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:
Scrum Master Certificate and/or a deep understanding of the Scrum framework and how it can be applied to software development projects
A minimum of 5 years expertise in software development
A minimum of 2 years as a product/project manager or equivalent
Experienced in Agile project management and development methodologies
Thorough knowledge of organizational processes
Ability to develop and implement best practices and to resolve conflict
Ability to track team members progress to ensure projects stay on track
Ability to create and report metrics to department and agency management
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Exceptional troubleshooting skills and able to quickly assess complex problems
Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
Proficiency with Azure DevOps and other IT resources
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group.
