Job Description
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Heersink School of Medicine seeks non-operative orthopaedic physician in the pediatric division holding MD (or equivalent) at the rank of Assistant Professor, tenure earning. Candidate must be experienced with limb deformity, spine, sports medicine, neuromuscular disease, fracture care, trauma, and upper extremity.
Candidate must be board certified or board eligible in orthopaedic surgery, and eligible to be licensed in Alabama. Candidate must have completed a fellowship in non-operative pediatric orthopaedic medicine after prior training in Pediatrics or Family Medicine. The candidate must have in-depth clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills, be highly motivated, and compassionate to all patients. Dedication to the teaching and training of resident physicians is expected.
The Division of Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery is located at the Children's Hospital of Alabama which is adjacent to the University Hospital complex of teaching facilities. The Children's Hospital of Alabama offers a complete array of inpatient and outpatient services and is a Level 1 trauma center. Since 1911, Children's of Alabama has provided specialized medical care for ill and injured children. Ranked among the best pediatric medical centers in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, Children's provided care for youngsters from every county in Alabama, 42 other states, and seven foreign countries last year, representing more than 677,000 outpatient visits and more than 15,000 inpatient admissions. Children's of Alabama is the only medical center in Alabama dedicated solely to the care and treatment of children. It is a private, not-for-profit medical center that serves as the primary site of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) pediatric medicine, surgery, psychiatry, research, and residency programs.
