Job Description
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Montgomery Regional Medical Campus is seeking applications for full-time Family Medicine physician for a Program Director for UAB Selma Family Medicine Residency Program. Program Director will provide an educational experience that will enable resident physicians to obtain the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to practice medicine independently and competently. Prepare the resident graduates with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to successfully achieve certification and eventual maintenance of certification. Develop and conduct the residency program to achieve and maintain accreditation in accordance with Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Other duties include attending on the Inpatient service Service at Vaughan Regional Medical Center and precepting in the Family Medicine resident clinic. Additionally, the position involves formal teaching responsibilities for both the UAB Selma Family Medicine Residency Program and for UAB School of Medicine third- and fourth-year medical students. While opportunities for research are available, research effort is not a requirement of the position. Salary will be commensurate with rank, experience, and qualifications.
At the UAB Selma Family Medicine Residency Program, we strive to create an atmosphere where it is a pleasure to teach, learn, and grow. Our committed core of primary academic faculty work closely with over 20 voluntary clinical faculty to provide comprehensive, evidence-based education to our residents and medical students.
Selma is a beautiful and friendly town situated on a bluff high above the rolling waters of the Alabama River just 45 minutes west of Montgomery. This historic city boasts the largest historic district in Alabama with more than 1200 structures dating back to the 1800's. Antebellum and Victorian homes now house specialty shops, museums, restaurants and offices. Visitors from all over the world come to visit sites throughout the community including four museums, Civil War sites and Voting rights landmarks, the famous Edmund Pettus Bridge and the Selma to Montgomery National Historic Trail. Today, the city and county have a diversified industrial and business base and is home to some 100 manufacturing facilities, employing over 17,000 workers.
Vaughan Regional Medical Center is the sole community provider hospital located in historic Selma, Alabama. The 175-bed Joint Commission-accredited facility employs more than 600 people. The expert, caring professionals at Vaughan consist of more than 75 physicians serving 22 medical specialties.
Required Qualifications
Successful candidates will have an M.D. or D.O. and be board-certified in Family Medicine and three years of faulty teaching experience. Applicants must upload their Curriculum Vitae, one page letter of interest, and 3 professional references.
