A Brief Overview

Manage implementation of public relations campaigns and related external communications for RGA's global businesses, including media relations, news and editorial coverage, interviews, thought leadership articles, press releases, award submissions, special events communications, change management communications, and issues management. Elevate RGA's brand visibility through strategic engagement with trade and business media, ensuring RGA's messaging and brand positioning is consistently aligned with corporate objectives. Develop and maintain relationships with key media contacts, identifying opportunities to showcase RGA's expertise.

What you will do
  • Foster relationships with global trade and business media, generating articles, interviews, and press coverage that promote RGA's brand, highlight thought leadership, and protect the company's reputation. Handle both proactive and reactive media engagement.
  • Develop, write, and edit press materials, articles, news releases, award entries, statements, Q&As, and other external communications for internal clients and business lines.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to craft compelling narratives, identify relevant stories, and promote thought leadership content for industry trades and mainstream media outlets as appropriate.
  • Work with business leadership and communications colleagues worldwide to create and execute strategies aligned with corporate priorities, and develop supporting communications materials such as presentations, talking points, and key messages for various campaigns.
  • Monitor media and track coverage related to RGA. Utilize media monitoring platforms to track potential issues or crises. Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and media coverage to identify opportunities for RGA to lead conversations or address potential issues or crises.
  • Track and respond to media inquiries and monitor the effectiveness of media engagement programs. Use data-driven insights to evaluate the impact of PR efforts, refine communication strategies, and demonstrate ROI.
  • Assist with media training sessions, including developing mock interview questions, message mapping, and tailored training for participants.
  • Work closely with digital communications team to utilize social media platforms to amplify RGA's messaging, engage target audiences effectively, and monitor and respond to issues.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Communications and/or Journalism or equivalent work-related experience required
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • 5+ Years public relations or media relations experience, demonstrating project leadership in corporate communications and/or media relations. required
  • 10+ Years experience in corporate communications and/or media relations (agency and/or corporate). preferred
  • Life Reinsurance, Insurance or Financial Services-related experience preferred
  • Experience working for a global enterprise with multi-national clients preferred
  • Highly advanced writing and editing skills, demonstrating the ability to clearly and quickly communicate complex subjects to diverse audiences and tailor communications to meet objectives required
  • Superior attention to detail in editing and proofreading, with a clear understanding of global audiences and cultural sensitivities required
  • Highly advanced oral and written communication skills, with proven experience in media relations, particularly trade media required
  • Ability to understand and support the editorial needs of business and trade journalists; ability to foster relationships with reporters and editors required
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and requests simultaneously while collaborating effectively with diverse leadership across geographies required
  • Highly advanced investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to discern and communicate core messages effectively required
  • Critical thinking ability, demonstrating awareness of reputational risks in different scenarios and understanding of legal issues pertaining to global communications required
  • Expert listening skills and advanced ability to liaise with individuals across various operational, functional, and technical disciplines required
  • Experience with media monitoring tools and media relations management platforms required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Outlook and Word required
  • Understanding of social media as a communications platform, and ability to communicate via online channels as required

Compensation Range:
$87,050.00 - $131,450.00 Annual

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
