Northrop Grumman's Enterprise Services organization is seeking an experienced IT Project Manager at our Linthicum, MD campus location. The selected candidate will work with the sector Chief Information and Digital Office (CIDO) where they will be responsible for managing IT projects across the Mission Systems sector. The candidate selected for this position will be required to spend 3 to 4 days per week at our Linthicum campus; working remotely 1 to 2 days per week is a possibility.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Manage short and long-term projects through to completion in support of both sector operating objectives and enterprise IT & Digital goals.
  • Lead and manage the operational aspects of ongoing projects, coordinating with enterprise initiative owners and stakeholders within the sector CIDO team and business divisions/functional areas.
  • Provide leadership and overall direction to one or more project teams engaged in the design, implementation, and modification of IT projects.
  • Serve as the customer liaison for the project leadership and manage all scheduling, change management, risk management, and cost management requirements for the assigned projects, while also being responsible for any optimization or other remediation work assigned by management.
  • Collaborate with and build teams across multiple domains.
  • Independently prioritize, plan, and execute work tasks in a rapidly changing, fast-paced environment while maintaining high quality results.
  • Manage and track status of projects, metrics, financial budgets, and EACs; manage schedules and prepare status reports; and ensure project remediation and ongoing compliance goals are met.
  • Create, review, and finalize the project Statement of Work (SOW).
  • Assist the project management leadership team in assessing, documenting, and tracking of all new assigned project requirements.
  • Prepare project execution plans and identify the appropriate technical and business resources required.
  • Participate proactively in developing and maintaining standards, tools, and best practices.
  • Lead and direct the assigned project team to meet cost, schedule, and technical objectives.
  • Adopt a positive attitude about Agile processes, ensure tasks are flowing from one phase to the next, and facilitate the basics of the process (i.e. transparency, updating project status, eliminating impediments).
  • Coordinate with the MS CIDO team to effectively use digital tools for project execution.
  • Assist in defining and tracking digital maturity for tools, processes, and training initiatives.
  • Implement and manage value tracking mechanisms to ensure measurable outcomes and continuous improvement.
  • Support staff meetings to include facilitating, compiling charts, and tracking action items.
  • Conduct business travel up to 10% of the time from assigned work location across the sector as required.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree with 7 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree with 5 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 3 years of relevant experience; a High School diploma or equivalent with 9 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a completed degree.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products (ie. PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Project).
  • Applicants must have a current DoD Secret level security clearance (at a minimum), to include a closed investigation date completed within the last 4 years, or must be enrolled in the DoD Continuous Evaluation Program (CEP), in order to be considered; the required security clearance must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.
  • The selected candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Special Access Program (SAP/SAR) clearance as a condition of continued employment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in relevant discipline.
  • Project integration experience.
  • Supplier management experience.
  • Risk/issue/opportunities (RIO/TRIO) experience.
  • Control Account Manager (CAM) experience/certification.
  • Scheduling experience.
  • Knowledge of Project Management principles.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
  • Experience with ServiceNow Project & Portfolio Management.
  • Experience with assessing complex problems and developing a plan of action while coordinating across a large, diverse team of program, business, and technical SMEs.
  • IT exposure & experience.


Salary Range: $105,400.00 - $158,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
