The Mechatronics Engineer, is involved in the R&D of complex electromechanical devices. This position is part of a small, capable team that has made significant advances in fundamental science and is now focused on commercializing the technology. This role will be critical in supporting scientific R&D efforts and product development. The Engineer II: Mechatronics Engineer is responsible for running complex system and subsystem projects and working effectively with various engineering and science disciplines. This position solves challenging engineering problems by being able to prototype and test new hardware designs.

What You'll Be Doing

This role will be critical in supporting scientific R&D efforts and product development. The Engineer II: Mechatronics Engineer is responsible for running complex system and subsystem projects and working effectively with various engineering and science disciplines. This position solves challenging engineering problems by being able to prototype and test new hardware designs.
- Responsible for developing hardware concepts into functional prototypes and production.
- Plan and perform tests to prove the feasibility of electromechanical systems.
- Able to conceptualize new designs while having sound engineering decision-making to determine the best path forward.
- Work with senior engineers and scientists to facilitate the R&D process.
- Strategize the product development in subsystem levels to advance the hardware incrementally.
- Electronic prototyping.
- Firmware development to test new sensors and algorithms.
Day-to-Day Tasks:
- Laboratory R&D (55%)
- Prototyping and testing (15%)
- Data analysis & reporting (25
- Lab management and training (5%)
- All other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring to the Table:
MS in Mechatronics Engineering or similar engineering disciplines with 3 years of industry experience or BS in Mechatronics Engineering or similar engineering disciplines with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
Requirements:
- Understanding of electrical schematics for mechatronic applications
- Testing and applying new circuits from reference designs.
- CAD and/or EDA experience (SolidWorks, NX, Fusion360, or similar).
- Prototyping experience in both traditional methods and 3d printing.
- Ability to prototype mechatronics systems with an Arduino or similar microcontroller.
