As a Global Commodity Manager for Compass you will be the communication channel for key commodity related topics internally and externally, you will work as the escalation point and the relationship owner of suppliers. The expectation of the job is to deliver commodity sourcing strategy, conduct cost analysis, RFQ discussions, complete supplier assessment, business reviews, and communicate commodity cost and sourcing solutions for key stakeholders. This role is expected to work with cross-functional teams such as Engineering, Product Development team, Technical Program Management, Product management, Supply operations, and Quality teams. This GCM role will also need to overlook end to end supplier relationship management to ensure suppliers meet Amazon's requirements in all aspects. The key for this role will demonstrate leadership to drive results and influence the teams to achieve company goals.
Key job responsibilities
The Global Commodity Manager (GCM) is a critical part of the development process and is responsible for formulating, communicating and executing a sourcing strategy relative to the respective commodity and device.
The GCM leads supplier sourcing / selection activities and successfully manages the supplier relationship to ensure that the supply chain is capable of delivering high quality, cost effective materials, finish goods and tested sub-assy in a fast paced dynamic and sometimes ambiguous environment.
S/he engages with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive, design and develop innovative consumer products. S/he must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment.
S/he primarily focuses on cost improvement, supply chain efficiency, supplier management, as well as all sourcing activities within Lab126 accessories team.
S/he ensures that the respective commodity meets the technical specifications and cost requirements necessary for Lab126 to develop great products for its customers.
S/he works closely with Engineering to influence technical design decisions, meet custom product requirements, and reach business objectives.
S/he manages the Approved Vendors List (AVL) and drives supplier business review (SBR) for continuous improvement in supplier performance such as cost, quality, supply, technology, service, environment and ethics.
S/he maintains knowledge of market trends including rigorous analysis of market drivers, cost structures and technical improvements.
Travel up to 50% to supplier's manufacturing sites.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain or other related discipline.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Extensive experience in consumer electronics and product life cycle management.
- Familiar with consumer electronics supply base.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Masters degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain or other related discipline
- Written and verbal communication skills in Chinese.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $71,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $153,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
