Job Description
Calling all legal professionals! Are you ready to make a real impact on the real estate, mortgage, and appraisal industries? Join our Department of Commerce, Division of Real Estate team as a Real Estate Analyst.

This position will be based in the office for the first six (6) months of employment. After this initial period, telework eligibility will be evaluated based on agency needs, performance, and the operational requirements of the role.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Real Estate Analyst performs complex legal analysis, provides guidance to investigators on legal matters, and assists in establishing courses of action within Division of Real Estate investigations. This role requires a strong understanding of legal principles, excellent analytical and writing skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with investigators, senior management, and the Office of the Attorney General. Typical duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Providing legal analysis and support for enforcement cases and licensing matters;
  • Reviewing evidence and legal documents to ensure sufficiency and the existence of elements of a violation of law;
  • Conducting investigations into allegations of violations of statutes and rules enforced by the Division of Real Estate;
  • Drafting legal documents such as citations, settlement agreements, pleadings, stipulations, orders, and notices of agency action;
  • Preparing evidentiary records for cases;
  • Assisting with special projects, including legal research, legislative matters, drafting administrative rules, and responding to subpoenas and GRAMA requests;
  • Acting as a resource for management and staff;
  • Reviewing and preparing evidentiary records for cases;
  • Drafting statutes and administrative rules, and coordinating implementation;
  • Reviewing division procedures for statutory compliance;
  • Acting as records officer for GRAMA requests; and
  • Acting as case agent and witness as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Law school students in their final semester, anticipating graduation within the next few months, are also encouraged to apply.
  • Strong understanding of legal principles and practices.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

PREFERRED
  • Experience in real estate law, mortgage law, or appraisal law.
  • Experience in professional licensing law.
  • Experience working for or with government agencies.
  • Familiarity with GRAMA.
  • Familiarity with administrative procedures at the state or federal level.
