As a key member of the Corporate Accounting team, Senior Accountant will be responsible for executing key monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting close and reporting responsibilities, including the preparation of various journal entries and reconciliations. Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this position, along with strong interpersonal and communication abilities. The position will require the individual to frequently work independently and will require competence and confidence in interacting with others within the organization. Areas to be developed in this function include accounting knowledge, analytical skills, organizational skills, research skills, and written and oral communication skills.

WORK SCHEDULE: Denver - Hybrid with ability to commute to the Denver office on short notice and as needed to support business requirements; this role should expect 2-3+ days in office on average per month.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Conduct business with the highest ethical standards
- Execute monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting close and reporting responsibilities
- Prepare recurring and non-recurring journal entries related to compensation and benefits, derivatives, G&A, and equity
- Perform the reconciliation and analysis of various accounts related to the accounting areas listed above
- Assist with research and application of technical accounting guidance, including US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
- Work collaboratively with the Corporate Accounting team by communicating effectively, completing tasks assigned in the timeframe provided, and being flexible to assist with other tasks or issues
- Collaborate and communicate with stakeholders across the Company
- Assist the internal / external auditors in their review and audit procedures
- Identify areas for increasing efficiency and effectiveness; implement and document those changes while maintaining effective internal controls and accurate financial information
- Maintains and fosters a high level of vigilance and awareness for cyber security risks
- Perform other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Self-starter, with the ability to prioritize and plan work activities, set goals and objectives, use time efficiently, and manage competing priorities

- Excellent written / verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient ability to interpret and apply guidance and standards such as the FASB Codification and internal accounting policies

- Promote teamwork and professionalism
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Experience with, or willingness to learn, various software applications used in Corporate Accounting and supporting processes, including SAP, BlackLine, Lease Accelerator, AEGIS, Workiva, Intelligize, ADP and E*Trade
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's Degree from a four-year University in Accounting
- 4+ years of relevant work experience; oil and gas accounting experience preferred
- CPA preferred
