JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a junior to mid-level AWS Infrastructure Engineer to serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for AWS within our fast-paced and newly formed Managed Services team. This role is responsible for operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting AWS environments while also contributing to new infrastructure builds as needed. The AWS Infrastructure Engineer will play a crucial role in guiding decisions on role-based access, security implementations, and firewall management to ensure compliance with SOC2 and PCI DSS standards. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with AWS services, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and containerization tools, and will be eager to take ownership of AWS-related initiatives. This role requires strong communication skills, the ability to work independently, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. While there is no on-call requirement, the candidate must be available to respond to rare after-hours cloud environment incidents.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Manage and maintain AWS infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and compliance.
  • Monitor cloud environments and proactively troubleshoot performance or security issues.
  • Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
  • Work with EC2, S3, IAM, RDS, ECS, CloudTrail, and other AWS services to support business needs.
  • Guide decisions on role-based access control (RBAC), security group configurations, and firewall management.
  • Assist in ensuring SOC2 and PCI DSS compliance (without handling cardholder data).
  • Collaborate with the Managed Services team to develop an industry-leading tool.
  • Implement and maintain AWS-based security tools and best practices.
  • Support containerized applications using AWS ECS and Docker.
  • Participate in incident response and resolution for security and infrastructure-related issues.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Education: BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field and/or 1-5 years of working experience with AWS infrastructure and cloud tools.
  • Strong experience with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Hands-on experience with AWS ECS, EC2, S3, IAM, RDS, and CloudTrail.
  • Familiarity with AWS security tools and compliance frameworks (SOC2, PCI DSS).
  • Experience managing role-based access control (RBAC), security groups, and firewalls.
  • Knowledge of containerization tools like Docker (Kubernetes experience is a plus).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Security - Specialty) are nice to have but not required.
  • This role may require a small amount of travel
  • This role is available in our Irving, TX and Miamisburg, OH offices and is offered as a hybrid in-office role.
