The teaching facilities are well equipped and offer students and teachers diverse spaces in which to learn and work. Crofton House School is currently seeking a Teacher, Career Education to join the Department of Career Education/Post-Secondary Counseling to support Senior school students and their parents through the academic planning and post-secondary application processes in Canada, the United States, and abroad.
As an experienced, skilled, and innovative teacher in Career Education, you inspire students. You are actively engaged in planning, implementing and assessing student learning. You are confident in curriculum development and demonstrate an approach to teaching that is reflective of the way in which girls learn. You optimize the resources available to you. You support all learners with diverse strategies and approaches and bring innovative solutions to learning challenges experienced by students. Your classes are student-centred and dynamic.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for guiding a portion of Senior School students through academic planning leading to their post-secondary transition; this is done through individual meetings, family meetings, classroom teaching, workshops, and large group presentations.

Responsibilities of a CHS Teacher:
- Bring a student-centered, inquiry-based and collaborative approach to the delivery of the B.C. curriculum of Career Education (Grade 8 - 12)
- Support the growth and development of individual learners through the delivery of the Crofton House School Advisory program
- Work as a collaborative and supportive member of the Career Education & Post-Secondary Counselling Department
- Build relationships with teachers and staff across the school community
- Be an active and positive participant in the co-curricular program
- Participate in school meetings and events, including school planning and professional development
- Create a positive and supportive culture for learning
Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience:
- Essential: B.C. Ministry of Education Certificate or Independent School Certification qualification criteria
- Relevant university qualifications (e.g. Bachelor of Education)
- Experience as Career Education teacher at a senior school level
- A comprehensive understanding of current educational practices outlined in the BC Ministry of Education documents
- Experience in an independent school, an asset
- An awareness of the learning styles of girls and young women
- Collaborative and energetic with a passion for teaching
- Committed to the craft of teaching, best practices, and standards of professional practice
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Energy, commitment and a readiness to participate in the co-curricular program the diverse life of the school community
