MSNBC Digital is seeking a Senior Producer for Social Media Strategy-an experienced editorial leader with strong news judgment and a passion for creating compelling content in a fast-paced newsroom.
You thrive under pressure, juggling multiple projects daily, liaising with News Desks and show teams, while leading news production across all social platforms. You are a creative producer, always thinking about innovation and how to stand out in a crowded space. You know what a good story is and how to tell it. You're a creative producer who knows how to spot a compelling story or viral "moment" and turn it into shareable, engaging content that elevates the MSNBC brand.
If you're driven to spark innovation in digital production, always chasing the next viral clip, and have a love for the MSNBC brand, this role is for you. This position reports to the Executive Producer of Content Strategy and Development.
NOTE: This is a Monday thought Friday, 2pm-10pm shift.
The position is hybrid, contributing from the office 3 days a week.

Responsibilities:
- Manage and lead the Digital Content team (Producers, APs, PAs) on daily news videos across all MSNBC social media platforms
- Identify compelling stories and assign them with guidance on production - look, feel, elements
- Develop, write, pitch, and live-produce anchor/contributor content around news of the day
- Monitor and coordinate live events for YouTube, coordinating with News Video Desk
- Create platform-specific content tailored to Instagram, TikTok, Threads, Bluesky, Snapchat, X, and YouTube, with a strong understanding of each platform's unique voice, audience, and best practices
- Identify, post, and track breaking news articles, NBC/MSNBC original reporting, and Op-Eds across all platforms
- Coordinate with MSNBC Digital on original stories, features, op-eds, and the scheduling of rollouts
- Monitor on-air programming , news beakers, internal alerts, and social media trends to surface timely and compelling content
- Partner with show producers on daily editorial content, YouTube strategy, and bespoke social-first video production
- Lead editorial in meetings on what to watch and plan for
- Direct breaking news coverage for all platforms
- Oversee special projects (live streams, YouTube productions, MSNBC specials, podcast videos, etc.)
- Liaise with NBC News Desks, bureaus, correspondents, Standards and Legal, booking, and digital teams to coordinate stories, pitches, and original content rollouts
- Collaborate with executives and editorial leaders on special digital rollouts, futures, live events, newsmaking interviews, and cross-platform efforts
- Work with social graphics, animations, marketing, MSNBC Live, production, and digital video teams
Qualifications
- Minimum 8 years of experience in news production management
- Strong background in news and editorial news judgment
- Proven news production leadership experience
- Experience in managing news producers, editors, on-air talent, correspondents, contributors
- Strong knowledge of all social media platforms
- Experienced breaking news manager
- Ability to work well independently and collaboratively across various teams
- Must be willing and able to work flexible hours for breaking news
Preferred:
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere and social in-app editing tools
- This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week
