For Colorado-based employment: The target salary range is $121K - $185K. In addition to base salary, the compensation package also includes eligibility for an annual bonus, as well as equity and a range of medical, dental, vision and other benefits.
VIZIO is looking for a seasoned, highly technical, hands-on, and mission-driven Principal Platform Architect to lead the design, development, and operation of a cutting-edge multi-cluster and multi-region Kubernetes platform that will serve as the backbone of our cloud-native applications. Candidate will have a pivotal role in shaping the architecture, scalability, observability, security, automation, and operational model of the platform.
What You Will Do
- Architect and develop a robust, scalable, and secure multi-cluster Kubernetes ecosystem.
- Lead automation efforts for the deployment, provisioning, monitoring, and lifecycle management of a fleet of multi-region Kubernetes clusters.
- Collaborate with development and SRE teams to align platform capabilities with engineering requirements.
- Drive the design and implementation of security best practices and compliance measures.
- Optimize cloud costs and performance through resource observability and management tools.
- Evaluate, select, and integrate cloud-native and third-party tools with the platform.
- Mentor and guide both platform and development teams on cloud-native, DevOps, and FinOps best practices.
- Troubleshoot, resolve, and mitigate complex platform issues.
- Design for long-term high availability, reliability, stability, and disaster recovery of the platform.
About You
- 9+ years of professional experience in software engineering, DevOps, or platform engineering.
- 8+ years of experience in Kubernetes, including cluster management, networking, security, and troubleshooting.
- Top-tier expertise in Kubernetes internals.
- Strong proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Strong proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Helm, etc.).
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and GitOps methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker Swarm, Nomad, DC/OS, etc.). Bonus if it includes bare-metal deployments.
- Deep understanding of networking, security, and distributed systems in a cloud-native environment.
- Deep experience with cloud-native observability tools (Prometheus/Thanos, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Loki, Thanos, Jaeger, Tempo, etc.)
- Deep understanding of service mesh technologies (Cilium, Istio, Linkerd, etc.).
- Deep understanding of Linux systems and internals.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Outstanding programming skills in GoLang, Rust, Python, or similar object-oriented programming languages.
- Team player - Demonstrated experience on a team that shipped a product or platform
- Professional developer - Experienced with source control and bug tracking.
