Technical writers communicate complex information clearly, concisely and accurately, and without relying on jargon. As a technical writer, your role involves tasks such as writing conceptual overviews and procedures, reading and writing example code, or updating help center queries and FAQs. Technical writers play a big part at Google. They are a key link between engineers, marketing associates, developer advocates, as well as all the external users and developers, tying together many vital but disparate parts of the Google ecosystem.

Using your extensive technical and leadership experience, you manage a team of writers, setting direction, giving feedback, collaborating internally and lending specific content expertise.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $153,000-$227,000 bonus equity benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of technical writers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment, conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and identify training and development opportunities for team members.
  • Define and implement the content strategy for Google Security Operations documentation, aligning it with the overall product roadmap and business objectives, and establish and maintain processes to ensure consistency and quality across all documentation.
  • Oversee the planning, creation, and maintenance of user guides, tutorials, API documentation, white papers, and other technical content, and collaborate with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather information and ensure accuracy of documentation and communicate project updates, challenges, and successes to stakeholders.
  • Stay informed about the latest developments in Security Operations and adapt content strategy accordingly, and be responsible for and manage the document portion of the product launch process.
