Carrier Residential HVAC (Residential Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) at the Collierville factory, TN is primarily involved in the production and assembly of residential HVAC systems. Carrier's Collierville plant is focused on manufacturing, engineering, and quality assurance for our residential HVAC products.

About this role

Carrier Residential HVAC - Operations is seeking a dynamic and experienced Materials Unit Manager to join our operations team. In this critical leadership position, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of materials management, including inventory control, warehousing, distribution, yard management, and Replacement Component Division (RCD). The ideal candidate will be a data driven strategic thinker with a hands-on leadership style and a commitment to operational excellence.

This is an onsite role in Collierville TN and the Materials Unit Manager will be leading three (3) supervisors between them responsible for 2 shifts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage daily activities of Materials / Shipping department
  • Lead supervisors on both shifts
  • Manage relationship with Union and shopfloor employees
  • Manage the perpetual inventory in the factory and establish/control/ensure KPI's i.e., Safety, Delivery, Quality and Cost
  • Responsible for "Yard Logistics" coordination and "Trailer" management
  • Collaborate with procurement, production, and logistics teams to align materials availability with operational needs
  • Develop and implement materials management strategies to optimize inventory levels and improve supply chain performance
  • Lead and manage daily operations of the materials management unit, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in inventory control, receiving, storage, and distribution of materials
  • Develop and implement materials management strategies to optimize inventory levels and improve supply chain performance
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives i.e., enhance workflow, reduce costs, and improve service levels
  • Manage, mentor, and develop the group supervisors and their teams
  • Oversee the use of materials management systems and technology to improve reporting accuracy and operational efficiency


Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 8+ years of experience managing a materials department
  • 2+ years of experience in leading a team


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain or business management
  • Knowledge of inventory management principles, warehouse operations, and processes
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and materials management software i.e. Glovia
  • Organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Data driven decision-making and business acumen
  • Effective leadership abilities with a focus on team development
  • English communication skills verbal and written
