Summary: The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for managing the Cost Accounting responsibilities for ensuring accurate and timely financial statements to the CFO, Controller, as well as the senior leadership team and department heads. In addition, the Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for forecasting and budgeting for the responsible site.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the accounting operations of ancillary corporations, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures.
- Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate accounting standards and regulatory requirements
- Develop and maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
- Improve the annual budget process including monthly Departmental reviews
- Oversee the external audits and ensure no material misstatements
- Handle other financial reporting including weekly flash reports and operational metrics
- Reviewing the work-in-process batches for financial accuracy including reviewing the material job issues, job receipts and job completion posted by production, and timely job closure
- Posting the encapsulation and bottling fees to each job which accounts for the labor and overhead burden
- Analyze rework jobs and develop an accurate burden calculation
- Maintaining the sub-ledger activities for Inventory, WIP, and BOM including but not limited to BOM implosions, cost updates, weekly sub-ledger balance postings and GL postings
- Responsible for analyzing the encapsulation and bottling fees for accuracy and updating as necessary until labor rates have been implemented
- Work with Purchasing on periodic standard material cost updates as necessary to ensure accurate cost of sales and inventory valuation
- Partnering with Warehouse/Inventory Control on weekly inventory cycle counts and physical inventories
- Work closely with Supply Chain on reduction of aged and obsolete inventory and estimate inventory reserve requirement
- Implement and train the Production team on labor and material usage capture
- Participate in the continuous improvement initiatives aimed to reduce job waste and material losses
- Provide analytics and reports to the management team on manufacturing costs
Educational Qualification:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
Required Skills / Experience:
- Minimum 5 years' of cost accounting experience
- Minimum 5 years of cost accounting experience in a food/drug manufacturing environment preferred
- ERP system experience is a must
- Demonstrated ability in synthesizing information to make critical decisions in a timely manner
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to build positive work relationships across functional lines
- Strong financial, business, matrix management, and influencing skills
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple products and projects
- Proven problem-solving skills are a must
