2050 Partners is seeking a mission-driven Senior Consultant to join our team in a fully remote role. In this role, you will directly contribute to the execution and management of decarbonization consulting projects that contribute to the development of future GHG-reducing building codes and appliance standards. Initial Assignments Will Include the Following Project Area:
  • State building codes advancement and advocacy (energy and green codes in multiple states)

Responsibilities:
  • Be a trusted advisor for our clients by providing pragmatic advice based on defensible data and analysis
  • Contribute to multiple projects including technical research, client engagement, subcontractor management, and external stakeholder engagement
  • Develop Codes and Standards Enhancement (CASE) reports that cover the market analysis, analysis of per unit energy savings, analysis of the statewide energy savings, cost-effectiveness analysis, and proposed code language
  • Conduct stakeholder outreach as part of the development of the code change proposals
  • Ensure high-quality deliverables, including reports and presentations

Required Qualifications and Competencies:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical field(s) is required; bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering is preferred; higher degrees such as master's or Ph.D. can substitute for years of relevant experience
  • 8+ years of experience
  • Demonstrated ability to develop clear, well-structured written materials for technical and policy audiences, including large, high-quality technical reports
  • Consulting mindset: comfort contributing to complex projects with a problem-solving orientation that prioritizes client needs
  • Ability to learn and apply new skills across interdisciplinary fields, including technology assessments, engineering, economics, statistics, and policy
  • Highest ethical standards
  • Ability to distill complex technical findings into accessible summaries, tailor content to diverse stakeholders, and maintain consistency and rigor across multi-section documents with multiple contributors
  • Strong organizational skills with experience coordinating interdisciplinary teams to manage timelines and deliverables.

Desired Experience:
  • Experience with the advocacy and code development for state energy codes such as California Energy Code (Title 24 Part 6) and CALGreen (Title 24 Part 11)
  • Experience related to national model codes and local building codes (e.g., ASHRAE 90.1, IECC, local reach codes)
  • Experience related to national and state appliance standards, test procedures, and specifications (e.g., DOE, California Title 20, ENERGY STAR)
  • Project management track record
  • Experience designing, commissioning, or tuning industrial systems such as process steam, process boilers, industrial refrigeration, compressed air systems, or commercial systems such as refrigerated warehouses and supermarket refrigeration
  • Experience with EnergyPlus, CBECC, DOE-2, DOE-2.2R, or other energy modeling software
