The Opportunity

Smurfit Westrock is looking for a dynamic, results-driven inclusion leader who can understand and integrate business strategy, inclusive workplace strategy, and workforce dynamics to enable Smurfit Westrock to execute its priorities.

This exciting career opportunity will utilize the successful candidate's Inclusion & Diversity experience when partnering with HRBPs, Business Leaders and COEs to develop a variety of innovative solutions for Smurfit Westrock's North America region.

The incumbent will report to the Talent Management Senior Director for North America as part of the Talent Management leadership team and will manage the Employee Resource Groups for North America. This role will indirectly report into the Chief Inclusion & Diversity Officer and will collaborate on enterprise level inclusion workplace priorities. Success will be measured by the effectiveness of Smurfit Westrock's Employee Resource Groups and the integration of DEIB into Smurfit Westrock's talent processes and outcomes related to an inclusive workplace.

Responsibilities:

As the Director, Inclusion you will:
  • Collaborate to operationalize strategies and programs to recruit, develop, retain, and increase the visibility of diverse talent.
  • Foster an inclusive and engaged culture through partnership in North America's survey and listening strategy and on actions to promote fairness and inclusion across the business.
  • Collect and ensure quality, accurate, helpful, and timely D&I data and reporting. Measure progress, identify insights and opportunities.
  • Facilitate communication and embedding of the EveryOne campaign with all North America associates.
  • Lead, develop, and engage inclusive workplace champions across the business including Employee Resource Groups, HR Community, and Business Leaders.
  • Build inclusion capability across North America, partnering with Learning & Development on development programs and with the HR Community on building inclusion capability.
  • Stay abreast of global data and trends in the industry and maintain up-to-date knowledge of global inclusion and diversity.


What you need to succeed:
  • An expert in the space of Inclusion & Diversity with a broader set of complementary experience (e.g. Talent Management, Talent Acquisition, Talent Development, HRBP, Change Leadership, OD, Communications, Public Affairs).
  • Leader with demonstrated experience leading transformative change in a large, complex, matrixed, global company.
  • Ability to leverage Inclusion & Diversity as a key enabler of innovation, engagement and business growth.
  • Comfort working in a highly collaborative culture, requiring high influence skills without direct resources/authority.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead employee resource groups that positively impact the business.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making abilities.
  • People leadership preferred; may be direct or indirect as demonstrated through project or initiative leadership without direct reporting responsibilities.
  • Strong business knowledge and demonstrated ability to partner effectively with the business.
  • Proficient interpersonal and communication skills. Able to influence across all levels.
  • Action oriented with effective organization and time management skills.
