Weyerhaeuser is searching for a Buyer to join our team! This role is part of the Mid-South Manufacturing Region and will directly support two (2) manufacturing facilities to include Grifton, NC and Plymouth, NC. The position will report directly to the mill managers of both mills, with a strong dotted line reporting relationship to the Mid-South Capital and Area Procurement Manager. This is a Full Time, Exempt position that will be located in the Grifton/Plymouth area and will require 25% travel between each location as needed.
You are a proactive, experienced procurement professional who has a passion for generating cost savings, getting the right parts at the right time, improving KPI's and supplier performance for a multi-million dollar facility. You will play an important role of supporting mill operations and partnering with teams across Weyerhaeuser, supporting the Operations Procurement Lead Team, mill maintenance and operations, and other functional teams.
In this role, your primary responsibility will be to support mill uptime reliability by ordering MRO parts, bulk supplies, equipment, services, Capital Projects services and supplies, and support our Operations Procurement strategy. You will do this by aligning your efforts with mill goals, Wood Products goals, Operations Procurement strategy and roadmap, company vision, operational excellence and reliability initiatives. To be successful in this role, you will build relationships and partner with the Procurement Lead Team, mill leadership, mill storeroom, maintenance, planning & scheduling, and other stakeholders within WP.

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $81,313-$121,970 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 7% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Primary Responsibilities:
ALIGNMENT
- Perform the function in accordance with Operations Procurement Lead Team guidance, policies, and procedures
- Align with and support Mill leadership, maintenance, engineering, safety, finance, and overall business strategy goals and objectives
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with all stakeholders
- Responsible for RFx process of non-stocked items , high value inventory , services, and certain Capital Project requirements ; including sourcing, bid evaluation, contract drafting, and issuing SAP Purchase Orders or Contracts to vendors
- Negotiate pricing and commercial terms, including consultation of important clauses negotiation with Procurement Product Line leader
- Establish and manage local contracts and pricing agreements including service provider contracts
- Responsible for investment recovery processes including the sale and disposal of surplus assets.
- Utilize Operations Procurement's strategic contracts and provide feedback when those contracts can be improved if there are opportunities to improve (i.e. pricing, terms, etc.)
- Generate cost savings by sourcing low cost, best value options and controlling escalation and changes
- Maintain a high level of On-Time-Delivery by effective use of Purchase Order management and Supplier Performance Management
- Responsible for Supplier relationship at the local level, oversee ongoing service and supply contracts, including resolution of issues
- Other duties as assigned
- Follow Operations Procurement procedures and exercise transactional discipline within SAP with accurate data entry, complying with established processes and procedures
- Ensure scope of work is clearly defined within Purchase Order or Contract, working with requisitioner when there is need to clarify
- Effective use of Scheduling Agreements, including transmitting to suppliers
- Process clearing of Invoices awaiting approval within the Approval Work Cycle
- Maintain SAP Contracts for Material Master sourcing
- Responsible for maintaining accurate data (including part numbers, prices, quantities, dates, and other instructions) on all Purchase Orders and Scheduling Agreements personally issued, including cleanup and closeout
- Act as back up to Material Manager when required
- Ensure every purchase order and contract issued supports safe mill operation (suppliers or contractors safety record) and maximizes mill uptime reliability (reliable on time deliveries)
- Complete ownership of mill Procurement Key Performance Indicators (KPI) by continuously improving performance
- Support Capital Projects with Procurement assigned tasks in accordance with Operations Procurement procedures
- Pursue and satisfactorily complete training curriculum assigned by Operations Procurement Lead team or other functional areas (Procurement, Ethics & Compliance, HR, IT Security, Import/Export, Finance, etc.)
- Complete assigned self-assessment exercises
- Provide training to local new hires
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 5+ years of Buyer experience preferably in a heavy industry or manufacturing environment
- SAP experience (or other ERP Experience)
- Experience negotiating terms and conditions
- Experience in Procurement, Operations, or Finance/AP (Experience collaborating with Finance/AP including invoice resolution)
- Business, field, or manufacturing experience
- Analytical skills, collaborative, and ability to communicate (oral, written, listen) at all levels within the organization
- Strong experience in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, Access, Word, Power Point, etc.)
- Customer-oriented and focused (both internal and external customers).
- Strong interpersonal, written, verbal and electronic communication skills.
- Committed to professional ethical standards.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Bachelor's Degree
- Professional procurement accreditation (CPM, SCMP or equivalent)
- Experience in MRO procurement supporting Maintenance and Capital Projects
