The Opportunity
This position, Project Coordinator, will work out of our San Diego, CA (La Jolla area) location in the Infectious Diseases group in Abbott Rapid Diagnostics. Our diagnostic solutions are used in hospitals, laboratories, and clinics around the globe. The crucial information derived from our tests, instruments, and informatics systems is often the first step in patient care decision-making for hundreds of health conditions from heart attacks to blood disorders to infectious diseases and cancers.

The Opportunity
This position, Project Coordinator, will work out of our San Diego, CA (La Jolla area) location in the Infectious Diseases group in Abbott Rapid Diagnostics. Our diagnostic solutions are used in hospitals, laboratories, and clinics around the globe. The crucial information derived from our tests, instruments, and informatics systems is often the first step in patient care decision-making for hundreds of health conditions from heart attacks to blood disorders to infectious diseases and cancers.
As a Project Coordinator you will:
- Assist Development: Assist in the development and implementation of company products and services, coordinating with departmental and cross-functional teams.
- Estimate Resources: Use standard techniques and tools to estimate project effort and resource requirements, collaborating with staff to understand project scope.
- Prepare Plans: Create project plans, schedules, and budgets using tools like Microsoft Project, working with staff to outline necessary tasks.
- Assist Directing Execution: Assist with assigning tasks, track schedules, identify risks, and develop contingency plans to ensure project success.
- Ensure Quality: Work with SQA to develop and execute quality plans using standard methodologies.
- Communicate Status: Prepare status reports and participate in update meetings with departments and customers.
- Resolve Issues: Collaborate with team members and customers to resolve project issues.
- Consult and Mentor: Share project management knowledge with internal groups and mentor junior project leaders.
- Stay Current: Participate in external organizations, conferences, and seminars to stay updated on industry best practices.
- Network: Develop internal and external networks to facilitate task completion.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Lead project teams of moderate scope and provide guidance to less experienced staff.
- Mentorship: Act as a mentor to lower-level contributors.
- Influence: Influence peers and occasionally first-level management.
- Decision Making: Plan, organize, and prioritize daily work to meet schedules, exercising judgment within defined limits.

- Decision Impact: Decisions may affect program schedules and resource allocation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Experience in a design control environment
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role
- Physical requirements: lifting items up to 50 pounds for projects and standing up to 4 hours at a time at events
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of medical devices, such as IVD
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, able to multi-task
- Familiar with Smartsheet and/or Microsoft Project
- Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
