Description:

AWS is seeking a Startups Business Development Operations (BD Ops) Leader to head our Startups BD Ops team. This position will implement high-impact operational mechanisms and orchestrate executive engagement strategies to drive startups ecosystem engagement and enhance relationships with venture capital firms, accelerators, and strategic startups. As a trusted advisor to the Startups BD Leader, the role focuses on driving operational excellence for the Startups BD team and leveraging data and analysis to deliver measurable business outcomes. The leader will design resource allocation frameworks, oversee Startups BD team goal management and performance measurement, and maintain operational mechanisms that align BD resources with strategic priorities while ensuring consistent cross-functional execution.

Key responsibilities include building and managing a high-performing team of operations professionals. The successful candidate must have strong startup ecosystem experience, and excel at C-suite relationship management, data-driven decision making, and operational process development. Success in this role requires the ability to navigate complex cross-functional stakeholder environments, translate strategic vision into executable plans, and drive results through team leadership and operational excellence. They will drive towards simple, scalable solutions to difficult problems, have excellent project-management skills, and be able to communicate complex analytical results, both written and verbally, in a clear and easy-to-understand way.

Key job responsibilities

- Lead Startups BD Ops team delivering high-impact operational mechanisms that drive startup ecosystem engagement.

- Support Global Startups BD Director and Startups VP in managing relationships with top-tier venture capital firms, accelerators, and strategic startups.

- Drive executive engagement strategy, including careful orchestration of senior leadership touch-points.

- Develop and maintain scalable mechanisms to prioritize BD resources across the startup ecosystem.

- Ensure operational excellence in converting strategy into measurable business outcomes.

- Support customer acquisition goals through a goaling framework and mechanisms.

AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. The AWS Global Support team interacts with leading companies and believes that world-class support is critical to customer success. AWS Support also partners with a global list of customers that are building mission-critical applications on top of AWS services.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 10+ years' experience in startup ecosystem operations, venture capital, or related fields

- Demonstrated experience managing complex operational mechanisms at scale for Business Development or similar specialized roles

- Track record of supporting C-suite level relationships and executive engagement

- Understanding of Amazon's operational model and mechanisms

- Strong analytical capabilities and data-driven decision-making skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- MBA or equivalent experience

- Direct experience with top-tier accelerators (YC, Techstars) or venture funds

- Previous Amazon experience, particularly in BD or strategic roles

- Proven track record of driving results through influence and operational excellence

- Experience in technical platform business development

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $157,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $260,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
