Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Senior Plasma Scientist to join our research team. In this role, you will lead the development of new sensor technologies monitoring industrial plasma processes such as those in the semiconductor industry.
Techniques are likely to include emission spectroscopy and also characterizations of the electric and magnetic fields surrounding the plasma. In this role you will be working at the forefront of semiconductor technology by developing first-of-a-kind sensors and the measurement techniques necessary to fabricate next generations of semiconductor devices.
We expect you to take a leading role in our efforts and to also maintain active collaborations with university and corporate labs. You will work with a team of energetic physicists and chemists, and also with engineers with strong scientific backgrounds. At times you will be expected to visit and work directly with customers in the semiconductor industry.
This position provides opportunities to advance along either a professional or a management focused track.

Additional Information
The expected salary range for this position is between $110,000 and $160,000 annually. In addition, INFICON employees are eligible for a profit sharing bonus with a target of 10%. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law.

- Oversee an ongoing project with a leading university in the field of plasma science
- Take a leading role in related internal projects and research efforts
- Develop a theoretical understanding of semiconductor plasma processes and sensors within the team
- Run computational simulations of plasma processes
- Design and build experimental setups, conduct experiments
- Stay current with the latest developments in industrial plasma applications and related fields, incorporating new knowledge into research activities

Qualifications
- Background in plasma physics or closely related field
- PhD in physics, engineering, or a related field
- Experience in leading research projects
- Experience with establishing and leading university/industry collaborations
- Strong team player
- Ability to work in international, cross-functional and diverse teams
- Ability to travel up to 10%
- Experience with or knowledge of plasma-based semiconductor manufacturing processes
- Experience with vacuum science and the development of scientific instruments
- Strong skills in documentation and presentation of research results
