The LA28 organizing committee is an independent, non-profit organization that is privately funded and governed by a board of directors.

Manager, Operational Planning

Reporting to the Senior Director, Games Planning for LA28, the Manager, Operational Planning will be responsible for supporting integration of workstreams including, but not limited to stakeholder, service, and event operational planning. This person will need to be able to collaborate cross functionally, build and present presentations, consolidate data and information, while balancing timelines and deliverables. The ideal candidate is willing to jump into any task and serve as a versatile tool within the team.

Working out of our LA office, this candidate must have a collaborative mindset working in a complex, cross functional organization.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Build relationships with internal partners and other key stakeholders and vendors
  • Support development of overall approach and detailed calendar for operational planning across stakeholders, services and event operations
  • Track status of various operational planning deliverables
  • Research and develop insights to inform business decisions
  • Provide project management support and resources to resolve complex cross-functional or cross-program projects and issues
  • Execute tasks within fast-paced dynamic environment with various workstreams happening simultaneously
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of detailed plans to execute operational goals within organization's timelines
  • Manage schedules and organize internal and external meetings to ensure working groups are moving forward
  • Manage Stakeholder Service Catalog to support service level analysis and budget management
Background & Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5+ years in operational planning, project management or a relevant consulting role
  • Experience in large scale events
  • Experience executing on a larger organizational mission/vision/strategy
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to anticipate challenges and develop proactive solutions
  • Generalist knowledge and mindset
  • Strong PowerPoint deckbuilding and design skills (comfortable working from the blank slide being the original author of presentations, strategies, and operational plans)
  • Develop & articulate and thoughtful, operational, budget-minded, and actionable content
  • Proficiency in project management tools (SmartSheet experience preferred)
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, highly fluid environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to co-creation and collaborative decision-making
Position Requirements
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree Required

  • Ability to work effectively and independently with experience in defining tasks, seeking feedback, and advancing the work forward with pace
  • Willingness to pivot on direction and task based on organizational priorities
  • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
    • Ability to work on-site in an office environment, based in Los Angeles, CA
    • The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment

The annual base salary range for this position is $85,000.00 - $105,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28's operational business needs and applicable law.
