About this role

Position Overview

The Leveraged Finance Group within BlackRock's Fundamental Fixed Income Group is seeking a new portfolio manager to join its team. The Leveraged Finance team manages a wide range of portfolios across the platform with opportunities as a Portfolio Construction specialist.

The successful candidate will work with relevant Lead PMs to ensure that active views are applied to the portfolios accurately and in line with portfolio guidelines & risk budgets. The candidate will also contribute to alpha, yield and idea generation through security selection and contribute to active investment process by providing Relative Value analysis, ideas for substitution trades and other market color. Team members develop analytics, reports, tools and framework to attribute performance, monitor risks and design custom portfolio solutions for clients using asset allocation, portfolio construction, risk management and other related investment skills.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Manager
  • Ensure that portfolios and strategies are at risk targets while in compliance with their investment guidelines and quickly escalate and resolve potential issues
  • Rebalance portfolios for changes in strategy, flows, benchmark changes and client directed events
  • Manage cash and Derivative lifecycle events for futures, FX forwards and option positions
  • Work closely with the team's Product Strategists to ensure smooth onboarding process and account activation for all new mandates and generating reports and analysis for client queries
  • Contribute towards the client experience by participating in portfolio reviews and client pitches
  • Assist in market research efforts and contribute to alpha through relative value and portfolio construction


Skills and Qualifications
  • Minimum two years of experience in portfolio management or related role such as portfolio construction, risk management, compliance and operations, or trading, preferably related to fixed income portfolios
  • Degree in a field such as Finance, Economics, Financial Engineering, or similar field with relevant experience. Excellent technical skills including advanced Excel, Aladdin, Bloomberg, and proficient in programming languages (VBA/R/Python) and handling large datasets
  • Strong process-oriented background including introduction of controls and procedures.
  • Demonstrate keen awareness of operational risk issues as well as adapt quickly to changing market environments and perform under tight time constraints
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem solving skills with a diligent attention to detail
  • Effective communicator possessing strong verbal, written, visual/presentation and interpersonal communication skills


For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$116,000.00 - USD$155,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
