In September, Sonoco announced it is performing a strategic review of the Thermoforming Flexible Packaging (TFP) business unit. In order to support a newly formed global packaging company with annual revenues exceeding $1 billion, we are seeking a Plant Controller for our Waco, Texas Facility.
Reporting to the Senior Area Controller - Flexibles and serving as the primary financial support for the Plant Manager, this position manages the administrative functions for production, cost analysis, accounts payable and receivables, monthly financial statements, and annual budget packages for the plant. The individual must have strong interpersonal skills and have demonstrated ability to establish his or herself as a valued member of a plant leadership team within a manufacturing environment. This position may also manage purchasing, shipping, or other plant administrative functions.

What you'll be doing:
- Perform/supervise month-end close duties ensuring accounting principles and processes comply with US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and that financial statements are accurately represented.
- Supervise administrative positions in preparing analyses and reports on production performance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, inventory, and month end closing.
- Evaluate system driven reports; ensuring financial accuracy for plant processes. Analyze business trends and provide guidance to business partners in order to improve financial results.
- Act as the key driver of the annual operating and capital budget processes for the plant.
- Review standard costs and update accordingly.
- Support the identification and financial assessment of capital projects and business initiatives.
- Support annual financial requirements, including coordination of annual fixed asset and physical inventories; maintain accuracy of transactions and documented records.
- Lead team in preparation and support of audit requirements (internal and external).
- Ensure compliance with local, state/province, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Monitor relevant activities to ensure compliance to corporate standards.
- Support commercial teams in managing customer contractual requirements.
- Act as key member of plant leadership team in working to achieve business objectives.
- Provide financial support for ad-hoc projects and presentations.
- Additional Responsibilities as Assigned.

We'd love to hear from you if:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Manufacturing (Plant accounting and financial closing).
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance, or related field.
- MBA/MACC and/or CPA/CA/CMA designation preferred but not required.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and main drivers of financial results.
- Excellent computer skills; with proficiency in Microsoft office products. Oracle, and OneStream experience desired.
- Effective communication skills, including ability to write in a well-organized, cohesive, and concise manner.
- Highly motivated, self-starter with hands-on approach.
- Possess strong leadership skills and desire to act as a team player.
- Ability/preference to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to travel 5%
Compensation:
- The annual base salary range for this role is from $98,000 to $110,250, plus an annual target bonus of 7.5% of base salary.
