Senior Manager, Accounting Operations
Apply NowCompany: Chan Zuckerberg Initiative
Location: Redwood City, CA 94061
Description:
The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative was founded by Priscilla Chan and Mark Zuckerberg in 2015 to help solve some of society's toughest challenges - from eradicating disease and improving education to addressing the needs of our local communities. Our mission is to build a more inclusive, just, and healthy future for everyone.
The Team
Across our work in Science, Education, and within our communities, we pair technology with grantmaking, impact investing, and collaboration to help accelerate the pace of progress toward our mission. Our Central Operations & Partners team provides the support needed to push this work forward.
Central Operations & Partners consists of our Brand & Communications, Facilities, Finance, Infrastructure/IT Operations/Business Systems, Initiative Operations, People, Real Estate/Workplace/Facilities/Security, Research & Learning, and Ventures teams. These teams provide the essential operations, services, and strategies needed to support CZI's progress toward achieving its mission to build a better future for everyone.
The Opportunity
The CZI Finance team is responsible for the accuracy and completeness of information across all CZI initiatives and entities. We're building a world class accounting team and strive for excellence in everything we do. The accounting operations team is here to provide accurate foundational information for our accounting reporting team and FP&A while providing support to the broader organization for all finance related tasks. We achieve these goals through building scalable infrastructure (processes and policies alike), leveraging CZI's current systems, and partnering deeply with cross functional partners.
The Senior Manager of Accounting Operations will report to the Controller, will directly manage two Accounting Operations accountants, and will be responsible for the management of the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Operations team. This is a hands-on role where you will lead and mentor a dedicated team in a fast-paced environment. This includes overseeing the full procure to pay process including contract review, purchase order creation, and accurate and timely processing of invoices, expense reporting, and credit card maintenance. The Senior Manager of Accounting Operations will also be responsible for travel management and driving ad hoc projects.
The Senior Manager of Accounting Operations will be working very closely with other key stakeholders in the organization and must have a strong desire to collaborate across teams. You will work cross-functionally with teams such as FP&A, Accounting Reporting, Legal, Business Systems, Facilities, etc.
The manager should also be familiar and successful at using and troubleshooting ERP software (Workday, Salesforce, etc.) The manager will be expected to learn about our systems and understand them well enough to problem solve and identify interdependencies.
Individuals applying for this position must be self-starters, strategic thinkers, action driven, and flexible in changing direction and methods. They must be able to thrive in a fast paced environment, excel at managing multiple priorities, and have a proven success record in communicating with all levels within the organization. Individuals are expected to hit the ground running and provide immediate contribution to the team.
