The Executive Director, Reporting and Technical Systems reports to the Vice President of Philanthropy Administration and Operations, directing a six-member team accountable for Philanthropy's core business applications, reporting, data synchronization/management and all database conversions, implementation and management of fundraising systems. Utilizes SQL programming skills to create and validate high profile data benchmarking, prospect and financial reporting requests as necessary. Implements and supports current technology infrastructure. Helps to select, develop, implement and support new systems and technologies. Manage conversions. Assists with the adoption of new and emerging technologies, including those embedded within new systems and other software acquired by BILH for Philanthropy. Willingness to support AI and tools to support a future based on growth of the existing philanthropy program at BILH. Assists with the development of strategic plans, setting project priorities, implementing and supporting key technology initiatives that strengthen and promote the goals of the Philanthropy Office and Beth Israel Lahey Health System.
Job Description:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:
1. Develop and implement a strategic vision for philanthropy reporting and technical systems that aligns with the organization's overall goals and objectives.
2. Lead a team of professionals in designing and implementing innovative solutions to enhance philanthropy reporting, data analytics, and technical infrastructure. Utilize advanced analytics techniques to extract actionable insights from philanthropy data, informing strategic decision-making and optimizing fundraising strategies.
3. Utilizes SQL programming skills to fulfill complex reporting requests, including create and validate high profile data benchmarking, prospect and financial reporting as needed. Oversee the use of Business Intelligence tools and other reporting tools.
4. Consults with programmers on user interface improvements, application development, and data synchronization across multiple systems.
5. Directs Philanthropy data management, acquisition, and integrity efforts. Manages routine procedures and develops and oversees regular quality.
6. Oversees the system testing, installation, upgrade and rollout of the latest software releases and work with vendors to create bug fixes.
7. Collaborates to identify new data sources, creating new reports, analytics and donor metrics. Operationalizes new emerging technology to efficiently manage the team and necessary workflows.
8. Performs the role of project manager on various projects including reengineering data or reporting processes. Works closely with colleagues to improve functionality and integrations with donor, patient, marketing, and volunteer systems.
9. Serves as project manager, when appropriate, for all system upgrades. Develops and cultivates effective and productive, strategic relationships with BILH IT, external collaborators, consultants, vendors, and internal system users and stakeholders.
10. Monitors technology efforts to ensure up-to-date practices and tools. Ensures that all technology solutions (both internal and external) are delivered in a timely and cost-effective manner. Identifies innovative solutions to new strategic initiatives.
11. Has the authority to direct and support employees daily work activities. Has the direct responsibility to undertake the following employment actions: hiring, termination, corrective action, and performance reviews. Direct Reports: 5; Indirect Reports: 2-3; plus related consultants

Experience:
- 15+ years related work experience required and at least 5 years supervisory/management experience required. Must have experience in Philanthropy/Development working with fundraisers, advancement services, and fundraising reporting.
- Experience with large and complex databases - preferably fundraising, membership or sales databases.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
- Staff or project management experience commensurate with requirements of this position.
- Advanced technical computer skills with strong working knowledge of SQL, SSRS, T-SQL, stored procedures, indexes, triggers and other advanced features.
- Ability to write complex queries and optimize their performance. Familiarity with data mining tools and technologies and/or statistical packages.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
- Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or Business Administration preferred.
- Blackbaud Raisers Edge 7.9x; Raisers Edge API.Import-O-matic.
- Experience includes Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 or higher; Microsoft BI tools.
