Your role at BHSN:
The Medical Director is a psychiatrist who, in addition to evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders, also provides supervisory consultation. They conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, develop treatment plans, prescribe medication, and evaluate treatment results. Expected to provide excellent patient care and compassion in every counter and across programs, aligned with the organizations core values.
Assigned clinical programs may include, and are not limited to, outpatient behavioral health clinics, school-based services, crisis services, substance abuse services, and rehabilitative programs.

What your day might look like:
- Prescribe, direct, or administer psychotherapeutic treatments or medications to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorder;
- Serves as the point person for supervisory consultation;
- Functions within programs licensed by both the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) and Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS);
- Collaborate with an integrated team to discuss treatment plans and progress;
- Design, execute or approve individualized care plans, using a variety of treatments;
- Document all services within twenty-four hours of the date of a client's visit and in accordance with state/federal guidelines and BHSN policies and procedure;
- Participate in care planning and coordination meetings to facilitate care process as requested. As assigned, sees individuals who are an immediate crisis to curtail emergency visits and/or inpatient admissions;
- Participates in developing policies and procedures that are clinical based.
- Performs chart reviews for the other providers working in the clinic
- Provides peer reviews
Your skills and qualifications:
- Current and valid board certification in psychiatry
- Medical degree from an accredited medical school and completion of an approved psychiatric residency
- Licensed to practice medicine in state of practice
- Current DEA registration
- Excellent knowledge and familiarity with current DSM criteria
- Familiar with crisis assessment tools and techniques
- Ability to work in-person at our clinic
