We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Accountant position located in Rockleigh, NJ. Under the supervision of the Assistant Controller, the Senior Accountant is responsible for the maintenance and accuracy of the company's general ledger and to ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with US GAAP and in compliance with the company's J-SOX control framework.

JOB FUNCTIONS:
Accounting Reporting Functions:
- Assure that all assigned accounts are properly reconciled, documented, approved and are in accordance with US GAAP.
- Assist in all periodic closing processes by preparing and uploading journal entries and supporting documentation in SAP.
- Prepare and schedule weekly payment distributions.
- Reconcile payroll and related benefits to ensure accuracy of the general ledger.
- Prepare periodic intercompany reconciliations and assure that all reconciling items are remediated on a timely basis.
- Facilitate the preparation of loan amortization scheduling and tracking of interest expense.
- Track new leases and ensure that proper documentation exists for Topic 842. Administer leasing system.
- Assist Assistant Controller with capital project tracking and accounting and other capital investment tasks.
- Assist in preparing and/or review of quarterly consolidation package for reporting to the Parent company and external auditors.
- Assist the Controller with preparing the annual consolidated financial statements.
Audit Functions:
- Perform SOD and other internal control analyses for compliance with J-SOX requirements.
- Assist the Controller in monitoring J-SOX Controls and managing the Internal Audit.
- Assist in gathering support related to any internal and external audits and tax requirements.
Tax Functions:
- Provide Use Tax Exemptions to vendors and determine the appropriateness of the exemptions.
- Assist the Assistant Controller and the company's tax advisor with maintaining the Use Tax System and Use Tax Filings.
- With the assistance of the company's tax advisor, prepare miscellaneous tax filings.
- Monitor the 1099 process in SAP, review vendors requiring 1099 reporting and ensure that proper documentation is obtained. Work with the company's tax advisor on annual 1099 filings.
- Recommend process improvements, including automation of various tasks.
- Timely performance of any projects or other duties as assigned.
Team and Reporting Structure:
- Two Senior Accountants share these responsibilities interchangeably.
- Reports to the Assistant Controller.
- Interface with Vice President of Finance, Controller, Director of Financial Planning and Analysis, Accounting Staff, Internal Auditors, External Auditors, and various employees and Executives of Takasago both in the US and abroad.
Educational Qualifications:
- Four-year degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
- CPA, or MBA with a concentration in accounting preferred. Preference will be given to an active CPA designation.
Experience:
- At least four years' experience in financial accounting, preferably within a manufacturing company is required. Two years' experience in public accounting is highly preferred.
- Experience with Internal Controls or SOX a plus.
Competencies:
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills are required.
- SAP experience is highly preferred.
- Must be able to work collaboratively with departmental colleagues and others within the company.
- Candidate must be a proactive, goal-oriented self-starter.
