Description:
The Global Manager will lead and define the functional strategy for Product Stewardship Regulatory and Emerging Issues affecting the development, sale, distribution, use and disposal of PPG products globally. In this position, you will lead strategy around PPG's regulatory compliance, data and tools used to record and comply with global product regulations including product and raw material chemical inventory status. In addition to managing the Global PS Emerging Issues process, you will manage and lead a team of resources to support these processes globally after regional deployment is made to our product stewardship operations teams.
You will report to the Global Director, Product Stewardship and have close collaboration with Product Stewardship, Legal, Government Affairs, Business and Technical leaders to guide them on the potential impacts of emerging regulatory issues and ways to utilize these issues to generate a business advantage or mitigate risk.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and improve processes for global chemical inventory notifications. Ensure PPG takes full advantage of exemptions, exceptions and simplified notification requirements (especially for polymers). Ensure procedures cover all aspects of new chemical notification, renewal, import/export and periodic reporting requirements (e.g. TSCA CDR, EU REACH Authorization).
- Guide regions and businesses in the planning and implementation of procedures to comply with chemical regulations and conditions of use for regulated chemicals (e.g. US SNURs).
- Develop logic to record global chemical inventory information in GPS that will drive the GPS reporting tools to verify global inventory compliance of products in all regions. Work closely with EHS IT to develop, test and promote tools that aid the regional businesses in maintaining compliance to global regulations. Provide direction to the Product Stewardship COE's, business partners and regional operations teams regarding global chemical inventory compliance.
- Provide oversight to PPG's biocidal products programs and design/provide tools to manage and implement the programs globally. Oversee a Global Biocidal Workgroup to ensure standard processes and procedures related to PPG biocidal products are implemented consistently and best practices are shared.
- Engage with the restricted substances and substances of interest committees to help to monitor, develop and further communicate their processes.
- Ensure awareness of chemical regulatory issues through participation in trade groups, conferences and seminars as well as monitoring publications.
- Liaise with legal, outside counsel and other stakeholders to ensure coordination of the management of potential and verified non-compliance issues related to product stewardship regulatory activities globally.
- Identify opportunities for advocacy on regulatory and emerging issues and support the development of tools and procedures around advocacy. Engage with PPG's EHS/Product Stewardship Leadership Teams, Legal and Government Affairs to support advocacy opportunities.
- Identify and oversee contracts for a variety of consultants who provide regulatory support to the new chemical and biocide registration processes globally.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in related field is required.
- 15+ years of demonstrated experience in Technical or Product Stewardship/EHS field.
- Broad understanding of product regulatory compliance and EHS principles related to the operations of PPG's businesses globally.
- Ability to act as an effective advisor in a multicultural, global environment.
- Ability to communicate complex technical information to various cross-functional audiences.
- Process-oriented approach to implement creative and efficient solutions for product regulatory compliance across the corporation.
- Up to 10% travel may be involved.
