About the Team
Our Portland Data Center team is a critical component of Workday's global infrastructure, responsible for ensuring the best-in-class support and service delivery of our highly available SaaS platform. We are a dedicated and collaborative group focused on the physical operation and maintenance of our global data center facilities. The team's responsibilities span a wide range of activities, including data center up time, server deployments, hardware repairs, proactive monitoring, automation and metrics and ongoing maintenance of our network, server, and storage infrastructure.

About the Role
We are looking for a proven leader with hands-on data center experience to lead our Portland data center team. The Data Center Manager is accountable for leading and managing the Data Center Operations for best in class support and service delivery at our Portland DC facilities. Effective partnership and teamwork with business partners and all other Workday Infrastructure service teams is a key success factor.
Provide management and direction for physical data center support including expansion, server builds, hardware repairs, monitoring and on-going maintenance to support our highly available SAAS service. Ensure our infrastructure systems which include networks, servers and storage equipment are operating properly in highly regulated and compliance frameworks.
This position will work with multiple departments and staff to ensure proper communication of information that may directly or indirectly impact our customers. You will function in a fast-paced environment focused on DC Infrastructure build, support and automation.
Responsibilities:
Support and guide 24/7 Data Center staff to ensure the highest quality of service possible.
Support includes occasional after-hours, weekends and holiday coverage.
Ability to prioritize and execute hardware repairs and project related work in high-pressure situations.
Manage multiple tasks and projects running in parallel. Solid capabilities working to plan and meet tight deadlines.
Conducts training and reviews and effectively manages a team of diverse engineering levels.
Provide guidance, mentoring, assistance and development to Workmates as well as cross training in various job functions.
Work independently, providing on-site project management support for Workday data center design, optimization and build-out
Act as the primary contact and counsel for site operations team.
Ensures stringent procedures for data center security and access logs are met. Complete regular audits and ensure the highest safely levels are met.
Ensures the site meets required Space, Power, Cooling SLAs on an ongoing basis.
Create, Contribute to, review and update data center documentation.
Collaborate with other Workday data center regions to ensure consistency across the fleet.

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants.
