Under the supervision of the CEO, the Director of Operations (DOO) will be responsible for providing leadership in all operations matters of Urban Peak. In addition, they will oversee compliance and reporting for all assets and contracts. The person in this position will partner with the Senior Leadership Team to develop and implement operational strategies across the agency and must be able to adapt to a continually evolving environment and thrive in an autonomous and deadline-oriented workplace with both attention to detail and a global picture of the organization. The DOO will take part in creating and implementing the strategic vision of Urban Peak and works frequently with third-party vendors and partners, and focuses on creating a work environment that allows staff to carry out their responsibilities as seamlessly as possible.
This position will ensure that interactions, interventions and environments at Urban Peak are trauma informed and emphasize the physical and emotional safety of youth and staff.

Who We Are:
Founded in 1988, Urban Peak is the only non-profit organization in Denver that provides a full convergence of services for youth ages 15 through 24 experiencing homelessness or at imminent risk of becoming homeless. Our goal is to meet youth where they are and to provide them with the assistance and support, they need to become self-sufficient or obtain the necessary services they need to exit a life on the streets.
Urban Peak provides numerous programs and services that are founded on the principles of trauma-informed care and Positive Youth Development to assist youth in reaching their potential and living a successful life off the streets. Services include street outreach, a 40-bed shelter for youth ages 15 through 20, a daytime drop-in center, supportive housing, education and employment services, case management, life skills courses, behavioral health evaluations, meals and more. The youth served at the shelter come from a variety of backgrounds, and we strive to be a safe community for all youth, regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, class, educational background, sexual orientation, gender identity, or ability status.

Who You Are:
- Minimum of five (5) years' experience in organizational leadership including financial oversight, organizational management, staff supervision, strategic thinking, budgeting, and problem solving.
- Graduate level degree is required.
- Experience working with Boards of Directors.
- Must be proficient in project management and delegation of tasks tied to project plans.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks effectively under pressure with attention to detail and the ability to handle confidential information.
- Ability to balance program and financial needs of the organization.
- Must be computer proficient and possess experience with Office 365, Teams and financial accounting software; knowledge of Blackbaud Financial Edge is preferred.
- Committed to trauma informed care and positive youth development.
- Lived experience reflective of the youth we serve is preferred but not required.
- Ability to use second language in written and verbal communication desired but not required (most commonly spoken in the Denver Metro area)
- Must pass both federal and state background checks.
- Must pass pre-employment TB screening.
What You Will Do:
Operations and Oversight
- Creates, implements and enforces efficient workflows across the agency that are trauma informed and budget conscious.
- Develops long-term operational strategies that ensures efficient use of resources.
- Ensures compliance with government and private funders, organization policies, and local, state and federal laws and regulations in all business operations.
- Oversees housing compliance requirements.
- Provides leadership to internal and external teams for IT network and infrastructure, and onsite operations support.
- Assigns priorities, delegates authority, and provides guidance on operational issues.
- Represents Urban Peak to agency partners and government entities on all operational matters.
- Analyzes the organization's technology infrastructure to ensure all systems support the strategic initiatives and growth.
- Ensures that all statutory requirements of the organization are met including Charitable Status, Property Tax, State registration, business licensure, insurance and other agency business.
- Manages the acquisition and sale of capital assets.
- Oversees use of agency's assets.
- Oversees facilities staff in maintenance of complete and compliant lease documentation and property documentation.
- Ensures safety is a priority at an organizational level, coordinates and verifies safety trainings that engage all staff.
Budgeting, Planning and Leadership
- Creates and maintains operating budget related to occupancy, personnel, benefits and office support for the entire agency.
- Prioritizes capital needs assessment and budgets accordingly.
- Develops capital budget with Director of Finance to ensure that property needs are addressed to follow building upkeep, preventive maintenance and building improvements.
- Works to minimize expenses where possible.
- Assists the CEO with strategic financial and operational development.
- Serves on the Senior Leadership Team as an active and contributing member supporting the organization's mission, vision, values, strategic goals and objectives; formulating policies; guiding and leading the change process; and evaluating organizational effectiveness.
- Actively participates in the collective bargaining process with the union and provides operational related input as needed.
- Serves as staff liaison to ad hoc Committees of the Board of Directors at the direction of the CEO.
- Navigates complex operational challenges.
- Leads Urban Peak as directed in the absence of CEO.
Supervision
- Effectively supervises and manages direct reports and provides, by example and leadership, motivation and direction to employees of the organization.
- Performs supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable state and federal employment laws.
- Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; recognizing and rewarding employees; corrective disciplinary procedures and practices (under direction of the CEO), addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Evaluates performance of employees in compliance with established policies and objectives of the organization and contributions in attaining objectives.
- Helps set the tone of the department to ensure morale, teamwork, and the positive employment culture of the organization is maintained.
