Job Title: Director of Development

Salary Range: $90,000-110,000

About the Position

The Director of Development is a dynamic and strategic leader responsible for advancing Evergreen Goodwill's mission through comprehensive, innovative fundraising efforts. Reporting to the Vice President of Mission Advancement, this role plays a critical part in shaping and executing a strategic development plan to drive sustainable revenue growth through philanthropy, major gifts, grants, and corporate partnerships.

This leader will oversee a growing team of fundraising professionals and serve as a key ambassador for Evergreen Goodwill. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in development strategy, a track record of cultivating high-impact donor relationships, and a commitment to fostering a culture of philanthropy across the organization.

We are seeking someone with proven experience in building and scaling development programs, aligning fundraising goals with organizational priorities, and collaborating across teams to maximize impact. Personally, this person leads with purpose, communicates with clarity, brings high emotional intelligence to their relationships, and approaches challenges with creativity, optimism, and a sense of humor.

Strategic Fundraising Leadership
  • Develop and Execute a Multi-year Fundraising Strategy to Meet Annual Revenue Goals, with a Focus on Major Gifts, Corporate Partnerships, and Annual Fund Growth to Meet Organizational Goals.
  • Lead Campaigns for Major Gifts, Planned Giving, Corporate Sponsorships, and Foundation Grants.
  • Work Closely with the Board of Directors and Key Volunteers to Leverage Their Networks for Fundraising Efforts.

Donor Engagement and Stewardship
  • Develop and Implement a Robust Donor Engagement Strategy to Foster Meaningful Relationships with Individual, Corporate, and Foundation Donors.
  • Identify, Cultivate, Solicit, and Steward a Personal Portfolio of Major Donors and Prospects, Ensuring Timely Follow-up and Customized Engagement Strategies.

Grant and Proposal Management
  • Oversee the Development of Compelling Grant Proposals and Funding Requests.
  • Collaborate with Program Teams to Identify Fundable Initiatives and Align Proposals with Donor Priorities.

Team Leadership and Development
  • Lead, Mentor, and Support a High-performing Development Team, Providing Clear Goals, Professional Development Opportunities, and Accountability Measures.
  • Foster a Collaborative and Performance-driven Culture Within the Team, Ensuring a High Level of Engagement and Alignment with Organizational Goals.
  • Develop Key Performance Indicators (Kpis) and Track Progress Toward Fundraising Goals.

Communications, Events Leadership, and Execution
  • Lead and Coordinate the Planning, Execution, and Follow-up of Signature Fundraising Events, Donor Appreciation Gatherings, and Other Philanthropic Activities to Enhance Donor Engagement, Reinforce the Organization's Mission, and Maximize Fundraising Outcomes.
  • Partner with the Marketing and Communications Team to Align Messaging and Create Impactful Donor Materials.
  • Serve As a Key Liaison Between Development, Marketing, and Programs to Enhance Storytelling and Donor Engagement.

Financial Oversight
  • Work Closely with Evergreen Goodwill's Executive Leadership, Program Teams, and Finance Department to Ensure Transparency and Strategic Alignment in Fundraising Efforts.
  • Develop and Manage the Department's Budget, Ensuring Efficient Use of Resources.
  • Analyze Fundraising Metrics and Prepare Reports for Senior Leadership and the Board of Directors.
