Your Role

The Transformation, Operations, and Customer Experience team of approximately 2,500 employees delivers operational excellence, continuous improvement, and transformative evolution that provides members, providers, and partners with quality outcomes and sustainable affordability. The Operations Communications Specialist, Principal will report to the Strategic Planning and Performance, Director. In this role, you will act as the communications advisor for the Transformation, Operations, and Customer Experience team, partnering with executive leadership and key stakeholders to design and implement a strategic communication plan. Your role will support the Senior Vice President in amplifying key enterprise messages, making organizational announcements, promoting accomplishments, and sharing stakeholder voices and experiences. Additionally, you will provide thought leadership and support day-to-day operational activities

Responsibilities

Your Work

In this role, you will:
  • Be a communications lead for one or more business units, CEO directs, lines of business and/or key company initiatives (e.g., Growth, Strategy & Health Solutions, Law, Finance, IT, People & Engagement, Government Affairs, Transformation & Customer Experience, Corporate Citizenship, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, etc.)
  • Partner with executive leadership and key stakeholders to design and implement strategic communications plans in support of Blue Shield of California priorities with the goal of establishing, advancing and maintaining a favorable corporate reputation with targeted audiences, including employees, providers, brokers, public officials, opinion leaders, regulators, consumers and media
  • Create employee communications that provide clarity, confidence and connection to our mission, strategy and leadership team
  • Design executive visibility programs to build our brand and reputation and develop message platforms to ensure we tell a consistent story
  • Oversee, develop and/or support corporate communications campaigns and strategies on corporate priorities
  • Coach leadership for external engagements, meetings, and speaking opportunities by developing presentations, messaging, documents, speeches, and talking points to ensure they are well-prepared and effective including industry awards, LinkedIn messaging and speaking at conference
  • Partner with executive leadership to draft and distribute monthly newsletter publication to an internal team of over 2,500 people that provides connection to our mission, strategy and leadership team including recognizing employee and team contributions through publication of monthly spotlights and coordination of Employee Appreciation Week
  • Coordinate materials, planning, logistics, and preparation for VP+ and Director+ offsite and on-site leadership meetings including All-Hands and Townhall meetings
  • Manage and support the development of executive presentations, including Board of Directors presentations and demonstrations
  • Manage onboarding process for new leadership within our team as well as introducing our team to new Senior Leaders within the enterprise
  • Partner with Internal Communications and/or external vendors to produce video shorts to amplify wins and other key messaging


Qualifications

Your Knowledge and Experience
  • Requires a college degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years of prior relevant experience
  • Requires mastery level knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience
  • May have deep knowledge of project management
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Requires excellent written communication, including ability to provide quality presentations at a level appropriate for Senior Leadership and Board of Directors
  • Requires excellent Microsoft PowerPoint skills

  • Hybrid (Default): Work from a business unit-approved office at least two (2) times per month (for roles below Director-level) or once per week (for Director-level roles and above).Exceptions:


o Member-facing and approved out-of-state roles remain remote.

o Employees living more than 50 miles from their assigned offices are expected to work with their managers on a plan for periodic office visits.

  • On-Site: Work from a business unit-approved office an average of four (4) or more days a week.

Physical Requirements:

Office Environment - roles involving part to full time schedule in Office Environment. Based in our physical offices and work from home office/deskwork - Activity level: Sedentary, frequency most of work day.
