Job Summary:
Assumes responsibility for pharmaceutical services accreditation processes, mitigating operational risks for Joint Commission, ISMP (safety alerts), NIOSH/USP 797 and board of pharmacy. Monitors and tracks issues and concerns related to regulatory issues involving the pharmacy. Leads projects regarding regulatory compliance and maintains pharmacy services policies and procedures. Designs and optimizes workflow and delivery of medications to omnicells. Identifies opportunities and implements processes to ensure excellence in compounding practices. Manages pharmaceutical purchasing activities and contract compliance.

Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required
- Master's Degree: Preferred
- Five years' inpatient pharmacy experience: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- Pharmaceutical Technician Board certification: Required
- State Pharmacy Technician (PTC) or CPHT or Pharmacy Tech-NHA (CPHT-NHA): Required
Essential Functions:
- Manages regulatory compliance for pharmaceutical services, mitigating operational risks for Joint Commission, ISMP (safety alerts), NIOSH/USP 797 and board of pharmacy.
- Integrates new regulations into current processes that relate to medication on the units to ensure compliance. Manages continuous quality improvement activities within the department.
- Manages narcotic diversion protocols. Designs and optimizes workflow and delivery of medications to omnicells.
- Coordinates inventory of pharmaceuticals and supplies, including ordering of appropriate quantities. Assists in the reconciliation of statements/invoices. Monitors and evaluates existing service levels, systems, procedures and practices and recommends appropriate changes or additions as required consistent with department goals and objectives.
- Works closely with wholesaler to maintain website, staff training, invoice balancing, and documentation.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
