The Commercial Structure & Pricing Analyst Sr is responsible for the valuation of assets, transactions and commercial opportunities related to Company-owned and third-party assets, including transportation, storage, physical and financial options - specifically for Sequent. This position also provides ad hoc analyses for management and other commercial team members. The ability to identify and resolve a range of straightforward problems, analyze possible solutions, and assess each using standard procedures are keys to success!

Responsibilities/Expectations:
  • Develops quantitative and qualitative models that accurately details value and includes all value and risk components consistently
  • Analyzes impact of new transactions on existing portfolio of assets, including transportation and storage to improve value, achieve results and align with strategic goals
  • Researches and applies pipeline tariff related issues to complete financial models
  • Coordinates with mid/back office team members prior to bid, ensuring all required approvals are in place
  • Develops detailed reports on deal analysis and statistics and presents to key business partners; seeks feedback and adjusts as needed
  • Assists commercial team in identifying and detailing existing and new types of business activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Years of Experience:
  • Required: Bachelors degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Math or related field; a minimum six (6) years of experience working at an energy company in related function(s)
  • Preferred: MBA with an emphasis in Finance or Business; minimum eight (8) years experience working at an energy company in related function(s), minimum two (2) years of direct deal structuring and analysis experience at a natural gas marketing company

Other Requirements:
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and safety as the utmost priority
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications, specifically Excel, and PC skills
  • Strong understanding of the natural gas market in the USA
  • Detailed knowledge of US natural gas grid and regulated pipelines
  • Fundamental understanding of accounting/finance principles and federal/state regulation
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Preferred: Experience with energy trading and risk management systems - e.g. Endur
  • Preferred: Financial Analysis, Risk, or trading & marketing experience
