Duties & Responsibilities

The Senior Card Operations Specialist will support UMB Card Operations with responsibility for completing operational duties as assigned to ensure smooth and efficient execution of card operations and support services. This role will provide a high level of skill in the use of card processing systems, applications, and products. Responsibilities will include performing card system and application maintenance, managing vendor requests for revisions to configurations and controls, providing expertise and support for card programs and product implementations, terminations, and conversions. Senior Card Operations Specialist will maintain internal/end-user documentation and procedures and ensure the timely and accurate completion of card projects. Specific responsibilities include:
  • Serve as Card Operations representative to assigned clients, providing day-to-day operational support and point of contact for client needs
  • Participate in recurring client and/or internal project calls
  • Support processing system requests related to program terminations, card reissuances, program configuration changes, revisions of card terms and/or pricing, etc.
  • Professionally respond to telephone, email or internal ticket inquiries ensuring timely resolution to any issues or concerns regarding card products.
  • Seek out and collaborate with the subject matter experts to support projects as needed including but not limited to card processor system changes, testing, new product implementation or updates and operational process improvements.
  • Lead and validate card processor system configurations and administrative changes (i.e. options, terms, hierarchy, etc.) across a variety of card-related applications.
  • Work closely with UMB business units to determine business requirements, document, and execute appropriate changes to the processing system in support of bank policy and business plans.
  • Facilitate and/or input card program changes in processing system, to update program strategies and to establish associate banks/ private labels/affinity groups.
  • Facilitate and/or input card control changes and make maintenance adjustments for various card related systems and applications.
  • Participate in and support testing of new systems and modifications to existing systems. Review test results and ensure the correction of any testing anomalies. Validate production implementations and work open service tickets as required.
  • Work with ETS (Enterprise Technology Services) or other vendor technical support groups to identify problems and solutions.
  • Provide support services and administration of the UMB debit, credit and healthcare card programs including but not limited to ordering card plastics, collateral materials, supplies, etc. and providing inventory monitoring and reporting.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert for less experienced team members and assist in the training of lower-level business system liaisons.
  • Work directly with ETS team to provide specified application results if interfaces to UMB systems are needed.
  • Create and maintain end-user documentation and/or internal departmental documentation and processes/procedures.
  • Produce estimates of effort required to accomplish projects, provide project status, identify and recommend solutions.
  • Monitor various exception reports and make the appropriate corrections.
  • Monitor daily card file transmissions to ensure all processes are functional and potential issues are identified in a timely

manner.
  • May lead and/or supervise associates either on a project/ad hoc basis, or more extended timeframe as required by management.
  • Can perform as Lead for cross-functional teams.
  • Represents the Card Operations manager at various internal/external meetings as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills MINIMUM:
  • Must have an expert knowledge in card operations, processer platforms, network guidelines, and card support applications and services.
  • Must have knowledge and experience in banking and/or card payments.
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of project management and/or business requirements gathering and documentation.
  • Demonstrate strong customer services attitude and ambition to obtain high levels of customer service and TUCE (The Unparalleled Customer Experience) with internal & external clients.
  • Possess extensive knowledge and experience working with a card processing system/platform.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse work group, as well as independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to adapt to changes and priorities and manage competing demands.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret data and understand and communicate complex and diverse information. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations exercising flexibility and sound judgement in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to make practical and timely decision and explain reason for decisions.
  • Demonstrate strong time management skills.
  • Demonstrate strong multi-tasking ability.
  • Ability to support job related tasks in a 24X7 environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office software products (including Excel, PowerPoint and Visio)
  • Experience with TSYS TS2 processing platform.
  • Business systems analysis experience.
  • Professional experience working with end-users to meet business needs.
  • Hands on work in card processing platforms, systems and applications.

Requirements MINIMUM:
  • 7+ years of experience in financial services, data processing and/or card products.
  • 5+ years of experience in network branded card payment processing systems

Work Environment
  • Must be able to work extended hours whenever conversion/project requires and be available for out of town travel.


Compensation Range:
$69,230.00 - $149,000.00

The posted compensation range on this listing represents UMB's standard for this role, but the actual compensation may vary by geographic location, experience level, and other job-related factors.
